Position Summary : Provides professional counseling support to children, family members and / or community impacted by death, loss or traumatic experiences. Provides services via in-person individual sessions, groups, therapeutic camps, and community education

III. Qualifications : Master of Social Work (MSW) degree from a school of Social Work accredited by the Council on Social Work Education. Minimum 2 years pediatric and adolescent experience specifically working with children in the office, school, hospital, and / or home setting. Supervision for clinical licensure may be provided by a qualified supervisor after completion of probationary period.

Must possess valid Florida or Alabama driver’s license and current automobile insurance and insurability under the company liability insurance are required.

V. Main Duties and Responsibilities

Provide therapeutic support to community families who are coping with grief / loss or chronic illness or who have been affected by a traumatic death. Services may be conducted in office, school, community.

Develop and facilitate support groups and camps that support the needs of Nonie’s Place clients and community. Conducts sessions with child / family based on requested and / or assessed need.

Frequency will be reflected in the treatment plan and updated as situation changes. Determines need for additional visits, phone calls or other contacts to meet child / family needs.

Demonstrates knowledge of and displays good assessment and intervention skills regarding areas of pediatric grief / loss. Serves as liaison to community health, welfare, and social agencies and makes referrals to appropriate agencies on behalf of the family.

Maintain all clinical records in the electronic medical record, ensuring clinical documentation is completed daily and follows all organizational and regulatory requirements. Demonstrates sensitivity to issues of diversity (cultural, spiritual, sexual, age, and lifestyle).

Displays ability to communicate well in sensitive areas. Provides emotional support to the child / patient / caregiver.

Documentation must reflect and support the treatment plan. The treatment plan is updated as changes occur to the child / family needs in a timely manner and communicated to other members of the team via IDG.

Assumes primary responsibility for own professional development. Accepts responsibility and accountability for own actions. Demonstrates ability to solve problems independently and yet seeks advice appropriately. Is self-directed, demonstrates flexibility and organizes workload efficiently.

Assists in the review and evaluation of appropriate policies in regard to services provided at Nonie’s Place. Attends staff meetings and all mandatory in-services and team reports.

Works effectively with volunteer services to identify patient / family needs that can be met by volunteers; offers volunteer services to patients and families, as needed, throughout their length of stay; requests volunteer services to meet identified needs; documents volunteer interventions in the treatment plan.

Performs other duties as requested by the Clinical Director and / or Executive Director or Operations. Meet or exceed productivity expectations as outlined by your immediate supervisor and as guided by organizational standards.

Required to comply with all Covenant Care policies, procedures and personnel policies, including those specifically addressing disaster preparedness and response
