Job Description
This position is for the full academic year, available to enrolled upperclassmen only. Freshmen are not eligible to apply.
Expected hours of work per week: 10 hours. The expected location and times are 8:30 - 4:00 in Basement, Carter Hall, Room 55.
Qualifications for Position:
- Upperclassmen only - freshmen are not eligible for this position
- Attention to detail is extremely important
- Good communication skills are required
- The ability to work independently and manage tasks effectively is essential
- Able to follow instructions accurately and with attention to detail
- Conduct oneself in a professional manner at all times
- Follow safety procedures diligently
- Basic math and alphabet skills are necessary
- Able to lift up to 35 lbs
- Able to stand for extended periods, stoop, and bend as needed
Expected Duties and Responsibilities:
- Assist in receiving mail from carriers and sorting mail for distribution to students, staff, and faculty boxes. May be required to work on Saturdays
- Operate postage machines and learn postal regulations
- This is a customer service role, requiring comfort in interacting with customers and ensuring their satisfaction
- Manage cash transactions using the cash drawer
- Transport mail to the post office (students must have a valid driver's license and have passed the campus driver road test)
- Assist staff with other mailroom operations, including binding, laminating, and copy work

Work Environment:
This job operates in a professional office environment, utilizing standard office equipment such as computers, copiers, and phones.
We hope that by working in the mailroom, you will develop basic office skills, including processing and handling mail, operating copiers, answering phones and emails, and basic office and customer service etiquette.

- Lifting: Raise or lower an object from one level to another (includes upward pulling) up to 50 lbs
