This position is for the full academic year. THIS POSITION IS FOR UPPERCLASSMEN ONLY. FRESHMEN ARE NOT ELIGIBLE TO APPLY FOR DEPARTMENT POSITIONS.
Expected hours of work per week : 10 hours
Expected location and times : 8 : 30 - 4 : 00 (No weekend hours); Basement, Carter Hall, Room 55
Qualifications for Position :
- UPPERCLASSMEN ONLY - Freshmen are not eligible for this position
- Attention to detail is VERY important
- Good communication skills
- Must be self-directed and task orientated
- Ability to follow instructions with attention to detail
- Able to conduct themselves in a professional manner
- Follow safety procedures
- Basic math and alphabet skills
- Able to lift 35 lbs
- Able to stoop, bend, and stand for extended periods
Expected Duties and Responsibilities :
Assist in the receiving of mail from carriers and sorting mail as well as distributing mail to students, staff and faculty boxes.Be able to operate postage machine and learn postal regulationsThis is a customer service job, you must be comfortable talking to / serving customers and making them feel valuedOperate cash drawerTransport mail to post office (students that have valid drivers license and have passed campus driver road test)Assist staff in other mailroom operations including binding, laminating and copy workResume skills development (NACE Competencies required by employers) to be developed

This job operates in a professional office environment. This role routinely uses standard office equipment such as computers, copiers, and phones. We hope that by working in the mailroom you will learn basic office skills such as, but not limited to, the following : processing and handling mail, operating copiers, answering phones and emails, and basic office and customer service etiquette.
