Family Ministries Pastor
Job Overview:
The Family Ministries Pastor is responsible for fostering a vibrant and inclusive ministry for children, youth, and their families, emphasizing community engagement, discipleship, and mission. By cultivating meaningful relationships and empowering volunteers, this role will create opportunities for spiritual growth, leadership development, and connection within the church and the broader Asheville community.

Qualifications:
A. Models a growing relationship with Jesus Christ
B. Holds an undergraduate degree and seminary or equivalent training preferred
C. Has experience successfully leading or assisting children’s and/or student ministry in a medium to large size church or similar organization.
D. Possesses a passion, excitement and energy for children’s and youth ministry that focuses on community engagement, discipleship, and mission.
E. Ascribes to the theological convictions in the Apostle’s Creed and familiarity with the Wesleyan theological heritage held by the United Methodist Church
Responsibilities:
I. Build up the People
A. Internally: Relationally invest in children, students, parents, and volunteers.
B. Externally: Develop Partnerships with school-aged children and their families in neighboring schools
C. Explore and establish meaningful community partnerships
D. Provide pastoral care to all families with school-aged children during times of need.
E. Develop assimilation processes for new families with school-aged children in Covenant Community Church
II. Build up the Team(s)
A. Recruit, select, train, lead and evaluate individuals and resources for children and student ministries.
B. Facilitate a team of church laity to set, plan, and accomplish annual goals consistent with the church’s vision for our children and students.
C. Routine celebration and appreciation of leadership teams and volunteers
D. Identify and nurture the skills, strengths, and assets of families with school-aged children and curate service-learning opportunities and leadership development pathways.
E. Collaborate and communicate with staff and parents/guardians
F. Support volunteers in programming responsibilities or execute as needed
G. Conduct at least 2 volunteer meetings annually, attend staff meetings weekly, administrative council meetings monthly (as needed)
III. Build out the Systems
A. Lead, coordinate, and direct programming for children ages 0 through grade 12, with evidence of unique developmental differences
B. Implement a system of communication and pastoral care that is relevant and effective for families
C. Identify and implement regular feedback loops on programming from students, parents, and volunteers
D. Secure learning opportunities for parents and volunteers (i.e. annual conferences, online workshops, etc.)
E. Design and implement worship services, connection, and spiritual growth opportunities for children, students, and parents in the church and the Greater Asheville community.
F. Coordinate training and ensure compliance with the Safe Sanctuary policies and procedures for all volunteers in assigned ministry areas.
G. Coordinate budget preparation and administration for the assigned program ministries of the church
H. Prioritize systems for maintaining order, safety, and sanitation in all physical rooms for which this role is responsible. (4 main classrooms, closet) safety and sanitation systems for all spaces

Pay: From $42,000.00 per year
