Long’s Chapel Methodist Church of Waynesville, NC is seeking a Full Time Pastor for Family Life Ministries. This role will have primary responsibility for LCStudents, supervision for LCKids and some general pastoral and preaching duties. An ideal candidate will have some graduate-level theology school and be ordained or interested in ordination from a Wesleyan/Methodist denomination or another theological tradition. We are an age and background-diverse congregation anchored in a more orthodox/traditional understanding of the Christian faith. FULL JOB DESCRIPTION:
Position: Pastor for Family Life Ministries
Reports to: Lead Pastor
Workers Supervised: LCKids and LCTots Staff
Full Time Employee
FLSA Classification: Exempt
Work Hours: Monday–Thursday, 8:30 am–5:00 pm, Sunday 9:00 am–12:00 pm as well as attending evening meetings as needed.
Salary based on experience and gifting.
Position Summary:
To direct the ministries and outreach of Long’s Chapel Methodist Church (LCMC) related to Family Life which involves supervising age-level staff, being primary staff leadership for the Student Ministry Team, offering leadership to our Staff/Ministry Teams and supportive pastoring work related to congregational care and rotational teaching/preaching.
Education and Credentials:
The ideal candidate will have (or be attaining) a graduate level degree in Theological Studies and will be already ordained or interested in ordination to follow the Shepherding gifting necessary for this work. LCMC would be open to candidates from all theological traditions which can respect and embody an orthodox Christian faith wrapped in a Wesleyan tradition of creativity and innovation. Most of all, we are seeking someone who loves Jesus deeply and longs to lead others into that deeper love. Since more than half of this role will be pastoring the youngest among us, a sincere passion for connecting the Good News to students is a must.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:
25% General Pastoral Leadership and Administration
The duties include being chaplain and pastor to LCMC and its constituency. There are responsibilities here that include but are not limited to:
- Taking a turn at being the “on call” pastor.
- Being available to staff, congregants, and Child Enrichment Center families for prayer and guidance.
- Occasionally leading staff meeting.
- Connecting with the Worship and Discipleship Ministries as needed (including a rotational preaching schedule).
- To be a part of a pastoral team where we each specialize in specific ministries but serve the congregation and community AS A TEAM.
50% Leadership of Student Ministry
- Providing primary staff and pastoral leadership to LCStudents Ministry which includes students in grades 6-12 and a team of volunteer servants who currently lead the ministry.
- Being available to students, leaders and families for prayer and guidance.
- Shepherding offerings that include regular discipleship and special opportunities of connection for this ministry to connect to the larger mission of the church to REACH, GROW, and SERVE.
- To help lead in a way that integrates the LCStudents Ministry into the larger ministry of LCMC.
25% Coordination and Supervision of the Family Life Team
- To provide primarily leadership and supervision with LCKids and LCTots (Staff and Leaders) and Family Life offerings that are meant to strengthen the households that make up the church and bring folks together as an inter-generational church family.
- To help communicate the richness of these ministries and the opportunity found in participating and serving within.
