What are the responsibilities and job description for the Maintenance Technician position at Covia?
Job Summary:
Covia is seeking a skilled Maintenance Mechanic 3 to join our team at our Marston, NC location. The successful candidate will be responsible for ensuring the safe and productive operation of the plant, possessing aptitude for multiple maintenance disciplines, and being proficient in the operation of equipment associated with all functional areas within the plant.
Main Responsibilities:
Perform each and every job in a safe and timely manner, adhering to pre-job safety discussions and conducting Last Minute Risk Assessments prior to beginning tasks.
Perform preventative maintenance as needed, including familiarization with oils and greases, replacement and disposal, pinch valve boots, change/repack glands on pumps, plumbing, patching, and v-belt changing.
Work on all aspects of belt conveyors, bucket elevators, and screw conveyors, including bearings, pulleys, belt splicing, and rollers.
Troubleshoot mechanical or equipment failure, diagnose issues such as burnt up motors, blown fuses, seized bearings, excessive wear, or any other mechanical failure.
Weld in multiple positions on different types of metal and varying thickness, work from blueprints, and fabricate items as needed, utilizing dial indicators, venires, calipers, micrometers, and TPM equipment.
Requirements:
High School Diploma or GED required.
Literacy in English, both verbally and written.
Ability to read and understand parts schematics and blueprints for maintenance fabrication and ordering/replacement of parts.
Previous experience within mining operations, preference given to sand mining.
Prior exposure to an understanding of operational equipment.
Demonstrated ability to operate heavy equipment adequately.
Demonstrated commitment to safety with previous experience in identifying and managing risks.
Demonstrated experience contributing within a team of professionals to deliver set targets.
