Job Description

Land surveying is among the oldest and most captivating professions known to mankind. It has roots dating back to the early civilizations and kingdoms, where it was used to establish land ownership through boundary records and to aid in the construction of renowned monuments. Essentially, land surveying plays a critical role in determining land ownership, facilitating land transactions, and is particularly vital to Cowan Group Engineering (CGE) within the civil engineering industry. Moreover, land surveyors uncover and weave a narrative around each project. At CGE, we recognize that surveying forms the cornerstone of every endeavor. Without survey, our work would not be possible. The role of Professional Licensed Surveyor (PLS) is essential to our success. We invite you to join us in shaping your story as part of our team!

WHO WE ARE:

Cowan Group Engineering strives to put the client first, and that starts with our team of employees. Our team is highly valued, which you will experience firsthand when beginning a career with CGE. We have a culture focused on communication, integrity, knowledge, optimism, and growth. At CGE, we believe that fostering a supportive and collaborative environment empowers our employees to deliver exceptional service to our clients.

As a rapidly growing local company, we are a general civil engineering and land surveying firm with over fifty employees located in Oklahoma City. Our business culture is guided by innovative thinking, open and honest communication, using resources wisely, involving the customer early in the decision-making process, and investing in staff through training and job enrichment. Our company profile is diversified to meet the challenges of the economy and provide design and management services to our clientele and other engineering firms.

PRIMARY RESPONSIBILITIES:

The PLS will work closely with the Survey Team Lead and the Survey Project Managers to learn more about projects and client management. The PLS establishes and maintains survey records and maps and provides technical assistance to the other members of staff as necessary.

This position requires an individual who can address clients and tasks with an open, respectful, and positive approach and will:

  • Take full ownership of survey projects, starting from scoping and cost estimation through to final review and reporting. Ensure that projects are well-defined, executed efficiently, and meet client requirements.
  • Direct and coordinate the activities of production staff involved in data collection and processing. Oversee their work to ensure timely and accurate production of deliverables.
  • Provide technical support at various stages of the survey process, including questionnaire adaptation, field staff training, fieldwork monitoring, report writing, and dissemination of survey findings. Ensure that all technical aspects of the survey are executed effectively.
  • Develop and maintain strong relationships with clients. Act as a primary point of contact, addressing client needs, providing updates, and ensuring client satisfaction throughout the project lifecycle.
  • Prepare project schedules, assign tasks to team members, and review completed work to ensure quality and adherence to project requirements.
  • Collaborate with the clients during the sales cycle. Gather project requirements, contribute to the development of delivery approaches, and assist in preparing project proposals.
  • Manage the financial aspects of projects, including budgeting, cost tracking, and resource allocation, to ensure projects remain within established financial parameters.
  • Monitor project progress and address any issues or challenges that may arise during the project lifecycle.
