Cowboy Fellowship is actively seeking to fill a position for a full-time, Student Minister. Student ministry is one of Cowboy Fellowship's top priorities. Cowboy Fellowship has recently opened a brand-new multimillion dollar children and youth building in August of 2024 with an indoor playscape and rock-climbing wall. The youth group averages between 80 to 100 students each week and is continuing to grow. Cowboy Fellowship offers competitive pay based on experience and the individual's need for additional training.
Job Summary
The Student Minister is responsible for designing, coordinating, and overseeing a comprehensive student ministry program (7th-12th Grades) focused on building young disciples for Christ. Areas of focus include group building, worship, discipleship, mission, outreach, and building a strong team of volunteers. The Student Minister must also serve as an engaging spiritual leader and role model with a strong biblical background.
Responsibilities
- Serve as a student advocate. On a regular basis, educating and enlightening the congregation about the goals, concerns, and needs of the students in the local church and community.
- Communicate with church leadership, staff, parents, and congregation in a timely manner utilizing available resources (email, website, social media, bulletin, etc.) about the student ministry.
- Plan, develop, and implement all aspects of a balanced and engaging student ministry.
- Identify the needs and interests of teens within the church and community.
- Evaluate existing programs to determine effectiveness.
- Provide ministry and mission opportunities for students throughout the year.
- Teach biblically sound sermons and studies that lead and inspire students to deepen their walk with God.
- Research resources and make recommendations for developing the student ministry programming.
- Pursue and participate in continuing education events and training opportunities within student ministry practices.
- Mentor students and provide counseling and spiritual direction that aligns with church ministry strategy and plans.
- Continue a successful progression between children’s ministry, student ministry, and young adult ministry.
- Provide oversight and direct supervision to volunteer student leaders, student ministry leaders, and other staff and volunteers.
- Recruit and train volunteers to work in and ensure adequate volunteer support in all aspects of student ministry.
- Maintain accurate records of student participation.
- Compile and manage the student ministry budget for reporting purposes.
- Maintain a flexible schedule that allows for approved and scheduled visits with students in a variety of ways (i.e. attendance at extracurricular activities, times of crisis, etc.).
- Collaborate with church staff members in a cohesive and open team environment.
- Attend and participate in weekly/monthly staff and leadership meetings.
- Perform other ministry tasks as assigned by the Senior Pastor.
- Oversee the Children’s Ministry in the absence of the Children’s Minister.
- Regular and reliable attendance is required in the performance of the job.
Qualifications
- Prefer 2 to 4 years of experience in student mentoring, counseling, and development, seminary degree or training is recommended but not required.
Candidates should also have the following job-related experience:
- exhibit a personal and growing relationship with God
- developing, organizing, and effectively managing large (80-150 students) youth programs
- effectively working with children, teenagers, young adults, and diverse groups
- technology skills such as general operating, Microsoft Suite applications, Google Drive, Google
- Calendar, social media, video editing, visual graphics, etc.
- excellent written and verbal communication skills
- conflict management skills
Experience and training related to:
- organizing volunteer efforts (20 volunteers)
- public relations
- leadership skills
- exercising discretion with confidential information
- program/meeting planning
- coordinating activities and compiling and/or disseminating information related to students
- programs/events, civic activities, meeting/travel arrangements, etc.
Job Type: Full-time
Pay: $55,000.00 - $65,000.00 per year
