General Definition of Work
Performs difficult professional work serving as prosecutor and team lead, preparing cases for prosecution, trying cases in Court, preparing and maintaining files and records, preparing reports, and related work as apparent or assigned. Work is performed under the general direction of the Chief Assistant Solicitor.

Essential Functions
Operates as a team leader for junior attorneys and/or advocacy team staff and legal interns to achieve goals; assigns and reviews work; recommends training, coaching and/or counseling for staff / junior attorneys.
Performs the duties of an Assistant Solicitor.
Encourages and promotes a culture of excellent customer service.
Knowledge, Skills and Abilities
Thorough knowledge of modern principles and practices of law; thorough knowledge of the law of evidence and criminal procedure, common law, Federal and State law and court decisions concerning criminal prosecution; thorough knowledge of the principles and techniques of preparing for and prosecuting cases; thorough knowledge of legal office procedures, practices and methods; skill in conducting legal research; ability to prepare cases for prosecution with minimal assistance; ability to present cases through the questioning of witnesses and introduction of relevant evidence; ability to argue motions, objections and sentences; ability to read, analyze and interpret complex legal documents; ability to express complex ideas orally and in writing; ability to speak extemporaneously and persuasively; ability to apply principles of logical thinking to a wide range of intellectual and practical problems; ability to handle difficult trial and appellate litigation; ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with judges, attorneys, law enforcement officials, Federal officials, State officials, County officials, witnesses and the general public.
Education and Experience
Juris Doctorate and extensive experience as a prosecuting attorney.
Physical Requirements
This work requires the occasional exertion of up to 10 pounds of force; work regularly requires speaking or hearing and using hands to finger, handle or feel, frequently requires sitting, reaching with hands and arms and repetitive motions and occasionally requires standing, walking, stooping, kneeling, crouching or crawling, pushing or pulling and lifting; work has standard vision requirements; vocal communication is required for expressing or exchanging ideas by means of the spoken word and conveying detailed or important instructions to others accurately, loudly or quickly; hearing is required to perceive information at normal spoken word levels and to receive detailed information through oral communications and/or to make fine distinctions in sound; work requires preparing and analyzing written or computer data and observing general surroundings and activities; work has no exposure to environmental conditions; work is generally in a moderately noisy location (e.g. business office, light traffic).
Special Requirements
Possession of license to practice law in the State of Georgia.
Possession of Security and Integrity Certification within ninety (90) days of hire.
Member of Georgia State Bar in good standing.
Favorable background history as determined by review of Local, State and Federal records.
Valid driver’s license in the State of Georgia with a favorable driving history (MVR).
