Position Title: Public Safety Officer
Status: Full-time
Salary: $18.50/hr.
Hours: Day shift (7am - 3pm)
About this role:
The Public Safety Officer serves to assist patrons and employees of Cowles Real Estate properties by enforcing safety policies, patrolling assigned areas, monitoring CCTV, and ensuring a safe environment for all.
**This position is classified as a safety-sensitive position & will require a drug screening, including THC.**
What you'll do:
- Patrol (on foot) Garage and Review/Chronicle Buildings (common areas, back hallways, stairwells, roof areas, patrol perimeters)
- Assist patrons and mall employees in emergency and non-emergency situations
- Enforce safety policies for patrons and mall employees
- Maintain daily activity blotters
- Monitor CCTV using exacqVision software
- Operate trash and cardboard compactors
- Use two-way radio
- Answer phones
- Communicate effectively with the public
- Deliver mail to The Spokesman-Review
- Lock and unlock building access
- Turn on / off escalators
- Maintain a professional attitude in tense or hostile situations
- Maintain a professional appearance
- Use appropriate form to document incidents
- Other duties as assigned
Irregular intervals:
- Fire watch
- Opening and closing RPS garage
- Occasional maintenance duties
- Occasional housekeeping duties
- Assist in setting up and tearing down special events equipment
What you'll contribute to our team:
- High customer relation skills are required. Also requires the ability to anticipate and provide solutions to customer needs; ability to give high priority to customer satisfaction and deal tactfully and effectively with differences of opinion
- Ability to get positive results in adverse situations; ability to maintain customer confidence and trust
- Ability to read and interpret documents such as safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions, and procedure manuals
- Ability to write routine reports and correspondence
- Ability to speak effectively before groups of customers or employees of River Park Square
- Ability to perform operations using units of American money and weight measurement, volume, and distance
- Ability to solve practical problems and deal with a variety of concrete variables in situations where only limited standardization exists
- Ability to interpret a variety of instructions furnished in written, oral, diagram, or schedule form
- High school diploma or general education degree (GED) and AT LEAST six (6) months of related experience and/or training preferred
- Basic computer skills required, including Microsoft Office Outlook, Word, and Excel

- First Aid and AED Training
- Pepper Spray Training
