Full Job Description- Paint/Marine Body Technician
Schedule: Monday-Thursday – 6am to 5:00pm
Summary
Seeking a skilled and detail-oriented boat parts painter to prepare and apply paint finishes, utilizing spray guns while ensuring high-quality results and adhering to safety protocols; experience with surface preparation techniques like sanding, cleaning, and priming is required.
Essential Functions
· Surface preparation: Cleaning, sanding, scraping, and priming boat motors, boat trailer components, but open to learning all aspects of position.
· Paint application: Applying multiple coats of paint using spray guns, and/or specialty tools depending on the area ad desired finish.
· Color matching: Selecting and mixing paints to match existing colors or client specifications.
· Quality control: Inspecting painted surfaces for imperfections and ensuring a smooth, even finish.
· Maintains tools and keeps equipment clean and in a proper state of repair.
· Keeps work area clean.
· Maintains and wears all required safety and health personal protective equipment, in the manner recommended by the equipment manufacturer.
· Verify compliance with quality standards, specifications, and regulations.
· Communicate quality issues to relevant stakeholders and collaborate on implementing corrective and preventive actions.
Required Skills and Experience
· Proven experience as a paint and body or marine painter
· Knowledge of different paint types ( e.g., marine-grade paints, epoxy coatings)
· Proficiency in using power tools like sanders, spray guns, paint mixing equipment
· Attention to detail and ability to maintain consistent quality
· Ability to work in confined spaces
Additional Duties
- Work daily overtime, when required, to complete the day’s scheduled assignments.
- Cross-train in other departments to be able to assist where and when needed.
Qualifications
- High school diploma or equivalent required
- Minimum of one (1) year manufacturing experience preferred.
Specialized Knowledge
- Knowledge, recognition and use of tape measurer
Competencies
- Ability to complete assignments with attention to detail and a high degree of accuracy.
- Ability to work independently with minimal guidance and as part of a team.
- Ability to work under pressure and adapt to changing priorities and job duties.
- Willingness to help where and when needed, beyond the scope of normal day-to-day duties.
- Good verbal and written communication skills; ability to read and interpret written instructions.
Physical Requirements
- Ability to work, walk and stand on concrete floors for the duration of your shift.
- Balance and flexibility, with an ability to safely navigate over and around equipment and tools.
- Ability to work in varied positions (e.g., overhead, flat, and vertical work)
- Prolonged periods of standing, kneeling, bending, and squatting
- Ability to lift up to 50 pounds.
Occupational Conditions
- Manufacturing facility – must comply with all safety regulations and PPE requirements (e.g., gloves, face shields, steel toe shoes, safety glasses)
- Exposure to hot and cold temps for long periods of time
