Location: CP Rochester - 3399 S Winton Rd, Rochester, NY 14623
Salary: $18.00 - $25.00 per hour commensurate with experience
Employment: This is a full-time 37.5 hours per week position. Typical days and hours of work are Monday through Friday during 8 a.m. - 4 p.m.
Summary/Objective: A Registered Behavior Technician (RBT)/ Behavior Technician primarily works with students who have behavioral challenges to help improve student behavior and learning in various preschool programs. The technician will directly work with students at various settings to implement behavioral techniques and plans, model and coach classroom staff and therapists with the behavioral strategies and procedures, aa well as collect and maintain behavioral data/related records under collaboration and supervision of a Board Certified Behavior Analyst (BCBA).
Required Education and Experience:
1. Minimal of High School Diploma or GED
2. Formal training in principles of Applied Behavior Analysis
3. RBT Certification and maintain annual re-certification or currently working towards the RBT Certification
4. Minimal of 2 years of previous experience working with young children who require behavior support
Essential Functions:
- Imparts agency philosophy of “Equal Opportunity, Independence and Realization of Individual Potential” to children, families, program staff and community resources.
- Maintains confidentiality of information relating to individuals and their families in accordance with agency policy.
- Understand and apply principles of Applied Behavior Analysis (ABA) and positive behavioral interventions
- Understand basic concepts of child growth and development and developmental behavior characteristics for children of special learning needs
- Assess student needs and provide interventions to redirect behaviors
- Provide modeling and training to classroom and clinical staff on how to implement behavioral strategies or Behavior Intervention Plans
- When required, provide crisis management strategies for students demonstrating unsafe behaviors and report to the BCBA about the outcomes
- Ability to accept constructive feedback and develop knowledge and skill sets accordingly
- Creative and collaborative in a changing and agile environment
- Demonstrate acceptance of sensitivity interacting with individuals with disabilities
- Effective communication with team members
- Assist the BCBA with classroom observation, data collection, and analysis for behavioral assessments
- Collect data and monitor on-going behavior data and samples
- Assist teachers and paraprofessionals on behavior data collection
- Assist the BCBA with data input in a computer program
- Maintain appropriate documentation, records, and reports
- Assist in creation of behavior support materials
- Monitor and promote positive behavior and social interactions among students
- Provide feedback/explanation to classroom and clinical staff about interventions
- Educate staff on general ABA skills/principles and evidence-based practices
- Assist the BCBA in conducting behavioral training for staff
- Conduct additional tasks as assigned by the BCBA
- Participates in conferences, workshops and in-service training as needed or recommended to enhance job skills and personal growth and development.
- Adheres to agency’s policies and procedures as well as department guidelines.

While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to talk or hear. The employee is frequently required to sit, stand; bend, stoop; walk, run; use hands to carry; and reach with hands and arms. The employee will be working with children with behavioral overreactions and possible unsafe behaviors and therefore must be able to handle these situations. The employee must frequently lift and/or move objects up to 10 pounds and occasionally lift and/or move objects up to 40 pounds.
Travel: Travel is primarily local during the business day, but employee will be expected to work at any of our partner agencies. Some out-of-the-area and overnight travel may be expected.
