What are the responsibilities and job description for the Dental Assistant-Floater position at CP Unlimited?
Metro Community Health Centers' (MCHC's) mission is to deliver high quality primary and specialty medical, dental, rehabilitative and behavioral health services to patients of all ages and abilities, including those with chronic health conditions, in culturally sensitive environments, without discrimination or regard to ability to pay.
Currently MCHC is seeking a part time/per diem (16 hours weekly) Dental Assistant-Floater to work in our Downtown Brooklyn Health Care Centers to assist the Dentist in performing all clinical procedures.
Specific Dental Assistant Floater Position duties:
•Assist the Dentist in performing all clinical procedures by passing instruments, retracting tissues, suctioning water, etc. Mixes and formulates dental materials such as cement, impressions and restoration materials.
•Performs Dental Assistant services including instrument sterilization maintenance of equipment and implementation of infection control policies.
•Prepares patient for dental treatment by welcoming, comforting, seating and draping the patient, and assists the Dentist in patient management.
•Assists with wheelchair transfers, patient stabilization, and helps the dentist manage medical emergencies by maintaining BLS Certification.
•Oversees scheduling of appointments for all dental patients, maintains all dental records and patient confidentiality and confidence by abiding by HIPAA rules and regulations.
•Implements the procedure for assuring oral sedation and prophylactic antibiotic coverage for patients requiring such before dental treatment and maintains all prescription records.
•Implements the procedure, which assures that prescriptions are delivered to the appropriate staff and location.
•Keeps accurate records and follows the process for dental lab (prosthetic) cases.
•Provides post treatment instructions for patients and staff and clarifies dentists’ findings and orders as needed for patients and staff.
•Ensures the operation of dental equipment by completing required maintenance checks; following manufacturers’ instructions; troubleshooting malfunctions; and communicating with dental repair service technicians on all dental repairs.
•Maintains timely and accurate records of: a) radiation exposure reports which are sent to and processed monthly; b) autoclave testing and reports; and c) all consent forms.
•Maintains dental supplies inventory, conserves resources and anticipates supply need.
•Maintains professional and technical knowledge by attending educational workshops and reviewing professional publications.
•Assists the medical and nursing staff in the examination and treatment of patients by taking vital signs and escorting patients to the treatment rooms as needed.
Position Requirements:
1.High School Diploma.
2.Minimum of 1 year approved chair side experience as a dental assistant.
3.BLS Certified.
