Purpose/Introduction

Performance Pipe, a Division of Chevron Phillips Chemical Company LP, a multi-plant manufacturer of polyethylene pipe and extrusion products is seeking a Services Supervisor who will be responsible for quality assurance and quality/regulatory compliance using tests and inspection methods based in national and international accepted standards and/or specific customer’s requirements in addition to supervising shipping operations. The position will be located at Performance Pipe, Startex, SC location.

Responsibilities

  • Supervising the Quality Assurance and Shipping departments of the Plant.
  • The position reports to the Plant Manager and is a key member of the Plant leadership team.
  • Quality Assurance responsibilities will include directing the quality control functions for the plant.
  • Serves as the management representative for complying with the International Standards Organization (ISO).
  • Directs the operations of the Quality Assurance Lab and functions including inspection of raw materials, finished product, and the performance of quality control tests in accordance with specifications described in the Corporate Quality Control Manual, API, ISO, NSF, ASTM, standards, and other quality organizations’ specifications.
  • Maintains existence of up- to-date specifications for raw materials, and plant-manufactured products. Establishes formal quality assurance plans and procedures for the facility. Provides effective Quality Control technical assistance to operations.

Responsibilities (continued)

  • Ensures a safe work environment within laboratory and shipping operations.
  • Maintains accurate quality records of quality control test data. Handles customer complaints in conjunction with other relevant facility personnel.
  • Supervising shipping and receiving operations including safe handling, storing, and loading of finished goods, as well as receiving of ordered, transferred, and exchanged goods, equipment, supplies, and repair parts.
  • Works with Lead Shipper to maintain an organized product storage area and ensure compliance with established safe practices and procedures. Oversee the shipping, receiving, and product inventories areas.
  • Responsible for the safe loading of all finished product on carriers’ equipment and movement of all products, materials, and equipment outside the threshold of the production area.
  • Directs shipments of all finished products to meet customer order requirements, serves as key contact in plant for all Centralized Order processing functions.

  • Assists in contacting and scheduling of carriers for product shipment as required. Receives and assists in disposition of customer returns.
  • Assists in the receipt of ordered materials as required. Maintains a good working knowledge of purchasing procedures as they relate to the receipt of materials and processing of associated paperwork.
  • Assists in the formulation and upkeep of central packaging manual to ensure consistency in packaging, loading, and shipment of all products sent from the plant.
  • Ensures that quality of finished product is maintained during handling and storage process.
  • Maintains an organized product storage area and stocking methods whereby inventory quantity and availability can be monitored effectively.
  • Supervisory experience and effective communication skills, which are essential to this position.
  • Must have the ability to establish and maintain successful employee relations.
  • Must have and continue to maintain a good safety record.
  • Must have strong organizational skills, able to deal concurrently with a variety of projects or issues and adaptable to a changing work environment
  • Working knowledge of Microsoft Office, Excel, PowerPoint and Word.

Required Qualifications

  • High School Diploma or GED or 10 years’ experience in extrusion manufacturing.
  • Experience in manufacturing facility and knowledge of Plastics Processing
  • Must have strong organizational skills, able to deal concurrently with a variety of projects or issues and adaptable to a changing work environment

Preferred Qualifications

  • Working knowledge of SAP
  • Working knowledge of IRMS warehouse management system
  • Experience with ISO 9001 and ASTM Standard
