Job Summary
We are seeking a highly skilled Equipment Operator to join our team at CPKC. The successful candidate will be responsible for operating various terminal equipment, including shunt trucks, light duty pickup trucks, fuel trucks, trailers, chassis, forklift, and sweeper truck.
Key Responsibilities:
- Operate terminal equipment safely and efficiently.
- Host containers/chassis within the terminal to support train loading operations.
- Perform general duties as required, including pre-tripping of perishable intermodal containers and building electric reefer container sets on railcars.
- Conduct visual inspections and report damages and defects of intermodal equipment.
- Prepare railcars for proper loading of different-size containers by placement of pedestals and spacers.
- Assist in securing containers once loaded to railcar.
Requirements
To be successful in this role, you will require:
- A High School Graduation or General Equivalency Diploma (GED).
- Experience working with heavy equipment or as a shunt or long-haul driver is preferred.
- Ability to work outdoors in all types of weather conditions.
- Advanced reading and writing skills, including the ability to follow advanced written instruction and/or training in skills such as driving.
- A strong safety mindset, as this is a safety-sensitive position.
