Serving in a leadership capacity, those in this role lead multidisciplinary project teams in the development of programs, plans and designs, consistently bringing outside-the-box visions to life. This position provides a wide range of planning and zoning-related duties that are creative, varied, and fast-paced.
THE PLANNING PROJECT MANAGER I AT CPL
The Planning Project Manager I utilizes extensive experience in the administration of zoning and design of ordinances, parks, urban plazas, streetscapes, greenways, and other developments to lead CPL’s dedicated teams in preparing plans, reports, and administering public processes.
Reporting to a Principal, you establish project timelines; balance client needs and budgets; consolidate construction documents and design details; schedule, attend and lead design charrettes; and engage in reviews with various governing agencies. As a Project Manager you are also tasked with developing and mentoring those under your supervision. The Project Manager is a supervisory role.
WHAT YOU BRING TO THE TABLE
- Master's degree in Urban Planning, Public Administration or related field is preferred
- Membership in the American Institute of Certified Planners (AICP) is required.
- Minimum of eight (8) years of planning experience with at least two (2) years of experience as a senior-level planner.
- Prior supervisory experience is highly preferred.
- Able to work well in a team-oriented environment.
- Excellent written and communication skills.
- Skilled in organizing time, resources, and tasks.
- Able to work in a fast-paced environment.
- Proficient at using Microsoft Office Suite.

The rate for this position generally ranges between $80K-100K annually. This range is a good faith estimate provided pursuant to the New York Pay Transparency Law. It is based on what a successful New York applicant might be paid and assumes that the successful candidate will be in New York or perform the position from New York. Similar positions located outside of New York will not necessarily receive the same compensation. Actual pay rates may vary from the range, as permitted by New York Equal Pay Transparency Law. Compensation offers will be based on various factors, including operational needs, individual education, qualifications and experience, work location and comparison to employees already in the role, as well as other considerations permitted by law. A potential new employee's pay history will not be used in compensation decisions.
