ARCHITECTURAL ASSOCIATE PRINCIPAL I
The Architectural Associate Principal I develops existing client relationships and works to establish new clients; contributes to important company initiatives and strategic planning; manages and develops a team; and leads change throughout the company.
Providing oversight and project management to our agile teams, your core strengths include distributing resources; managing and estimating budgets; supervising team members; and establishing , maintaining and fostering relationships with key clients and stakeholders. Your expertise encompasses design for moderately sized and complex projects, and your technical skill enables you to efficiently oversee a multitude of assignments concurrently.

What You Bring To The Table
- A Bachelor’s or advanced degree in your discipline from an accredited institution and have at least twelve (12) years of related work experience with at least five (5) in a Project Manager role – or an equivalent combination of education and experience
- Previous experience in business development and client management preferred
- Experience working on civil and cultural buildings and or higher education projects preferred
- A masterful understanding of the foundational principles of your discipline
- Professional Licensure (RA)
- An ability to manage complexity with a track record of providing quality designs for a wide range of project types
- In-depth knowledge of construction processes, plans and specifications, as well as their application and relevance to public works and construction projects
- Proficiency in technical writing as well as verbal communication
- A strong ability to prioritize and juggle critical tasks, seeing them through to completion while maintaining high design standards and adhering to established project timelines
- Create, maintain and nurture client relationships. You are responsible for business development, marketing, contract development, design production and construction administration efforts as needed.
- Keep abreast of new technological or scientific methods and developments affecting the organization for the purpose of recommending changes
- Develop, maintain , and learn from colleague and National Practice Leader interaction, communication is two-way
- Develop and employ tracking and measurements that are indicators of business health
- Execute work by managing the work of others, providing direction and removing obstacles:
- Oversee project schedule, budget and aspects of concurrent design and construction projects
- Perform quality assurance/control on other's work, verifying methodologies, calculations, outcomes, etc.
- Attend, participate in and lead client vision sessions
- Develop project scopes and objectives and coordinate all efforts – administrative and technical – to ensure the most efficient and cost-effective execution of assigned projects
- Advocates for sustainable approaches to design solutions
- Provide management of internal finances, which include billing, invoice generation and asset/resource allocation
- Ensure appropriate resources are allocated throughout the organization to deliver a high-quality client experience
- Supervisory requirements, including recruitment and retention of talent including:
- Engage and foster the growth of CPL team members: provide encouragement and regular feedback; and serve as a mentor/example for all levels of the team
- Manage/oversee career conversations with your team on an established schedule (annual career conversations, regular check-ins, and the development of career plans for each team member)
- Develop future leaders within the organization (train your replacement)
- Engage, motivate, and lead internal and external stakeholders to develop strategies and plans to move the organization in the desired direction.
- Influence people through effective communication
- Promote justice, diversity and fairness in the organization
- Demonstrate an understanding of the business and CPL’s Value Proposition and promote that within CPL and with clients
- Responsible for managing $1 million in fees minimum with a personal portfolio of clients that bring in $500,000 in fees at minimum at the agreed upon practice multiplier. Grow a practice organically at a rate of 20% annually.

Salary : $104,000 - $157,000
