**About the Internship:**
This internship provides a unique opportunity to learn about the metallurgy of cast superalloys, the investment casting process, and quality requirements essential for aerospace applications.
**Key Responsibilities:**
* Collaborate with industry experts to improve processes and enhance operational efficiency.
* Support process improvement by reviewing metallurgical, process, and dimensional trials, contributing to continuous improvements and cost-saving initiatives.
* Analyze test results, summarize data, and help prepare technical reports to present findings and recommendations for improvement.
* Work with shop floor personnel to improve routings, instructions, and overall process performance based on their feedback.
* Utilize A3 problem-solving and PDCA methodologies to address challenges and identify process improvements.
* Maintain accurate and thorough documentation of all findings, trial results, and process changes.
**Requirements:**
* Currently an engineering student, preferably pursuing a degree in Materials/Metallurgy, Manufacturing, or Industrial Engineering, with at least two years of college coursework completed.
* Curious and analytical, with a strong interest in solidification, metallurgy, chemistry, and thermodynamics, along with the ability to analyze and interpret data.
* Problem-solver, with a creative thinker who can identify challenges and propose solutions, while working independently or as part of a team.
* Safety-conscious, committed to adhering to all safety policies, practices, and procedures.
**Additional Requirements:**
* Physical demands: 50% sitting and 50% walking/standing. May occasionally need to lift up to 50 lbs unassisted.
* Work environment: Will work in both climate-controlled areas and occasionally on the shop floor, which may involve exposure to heat and dust.
* Travel requirements: Minimal travel (less than 5%) for supplier visits or training.
