Firefighter Engineer
Stationed amidst the coastal landscape, the FAE's work will encompass unique rescue, fire and medical calls. With our remote location necessitating an "all-risk" approach, the FAE's expertise will be vital across various call types. Collaborating with esteemed partner organizations like the Southern Marin Fire District, Marin County Fire Department, State and Federal Parks, Bolinas Fire Protection District, and US Coast Guard, the FAE will work through a range of challenging situations. Their leadership extends beyond incident command; mentoring both new career recruits and experienced local volunteers. With these contributions, the FAE will directly influence the future of our district.
At least 18 years of age by the closing date of the application period Equivalent to the completion of the twelfth (12th) grade Possession of a State of California Firefighter 1 Certificate or completion of accredited Fire Academy. Possession of a State of California Emergency Medical Technician or Paramedic License CPR/AED Certification Possession of current Cal-JAC Candidate Physical Ability Test (CPAT).
A valid California Class C Driver’s License with Firefighter, Air Brake, and Tank endorsements or Commercial Class B License Driver/Operator 1A and 1B College Degree or fire technology course work Wildland Fire Task Force and/or Strike Team experience Formal or informal FIRE/EMS educator experience Surf Rescue, Technical Rope Rescue, and Search and Rescue experience Apparatus Maintenance and inspection experience Extensive knowledge of Marin County emergency response operations Knowledge of Stinson Beach, and second due response zones Proficiency in Spanish
Salary:
The FAE will be compensated at an hourly rate equivalent to a base annual salary of $109,651 with opportunity for overtime and annual compensation increases. This is an at-will employment position.
Schedule:
56-hour workweek on a 48-96 schedule.
