What are the responsibilities and job description for the Ground Water Plant Operator II position at CPS HR Consulting?
Ground Water Plant Operator II is responsible for a variety of tasks in the operation and maintenance of the District’s Ground Water treatment facilities and equipment to provide water production on a daily basis. Essential duties include operating motors, pumps, and valves to regulate the flow of raw water into the treatment plant, monitoring chemicals to ensure water disinfection and clarification, conducting preventative maintenance, and accurately recording data such as turbidity, pressure, and daily flows.
This position is classified as an essential employee, which may require working before, during, and after an emergency or disaster. This job has no supervisory responsibilities.
The ideal candidate for this position will enjoy working in a small organization environment with big responsibilities, providing high-quality and sustainable water to the customers of the City of Stafford, TX. They will be detail-oriented, have strong problem-solving skills, and be capable of effectively communicating in both oral and written forms. A background in water treatment and a passion for environmental sustainability are highly desirable.
- One (1) year related experience and/or training in operating a ground water treatment plant; or equivalent combination of water-related education and experience.
- Ability to read and comprehend simple and sometimes complex instructions, O&M manuals, short correspondence, and memos.
- Ability to write simple correspondence and effectively communicate with customers, clients, and other employees of the organization.
- Ability to understand and calculate water math parameters including area, volume, pressure, flow, velocity, and chemical dosage calculations.
- Working knowledge of Spreadsheet and Word Processing software is required.
- Valid Class "C" Driver License.
- Class "C" Water License.
- The physical demands of this job occasionally require standing, walking, reaching with hands and arms, climbing or balancing, and stooping or kneeling. The employee must occasionally lift and/or move up to 50 pounds.
- While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly exposed to fumes or airborne particles and outside weather conditions such as extreme heat and cold temperatures. The employee is frequently exposed to chemicals used in the disinfection of water. The noise level in the work environment is usually moderate. Employee is provided with appropriate personal protective equipment (PPE) to conduct required work in a safe manner.
