Director of Distribution $115-165K DOE

CPS Recruitment is seeking an experienced Director of Distribution for a well-established, family-owned distribution company serving retail customers across the Northeast.

Position Overview

This leadership role will oversee multi-site distribution operations , including warehousing, facility maintenance, transportation, and inventory control. The ideal candidate will drive operational efficiency, mentor a high-performing leadership team, and support business growth .

Key Responsibilities

Warehouse & Inventory Management

  • Oversee operations across multiple locations, ensuring staffing, productivity, and inventory accuracy.
  • Implement and enhance Warehouse Management Systems (WMS) to improve efficiency.
  • Ensure compliance with legal, regulatory, and safety standards .

Transportation & Logistics

  • Optimize delivery operations to improve efficiency and reduce costs.
  • Ensure compliance with DOT, OSHA, and other transportation regulations .
  • Monitor KPIs such as on-time deliveries and cost-per-stop to drive improvements.

    • Facility & Equipment Maintenance

  • Oversee preventative maintenance programs to minimize downtime.
  • Ensure smooth facility operations and equipment upkeep.

    • Leadership & Team Development

  • Build and develop a high-performing leadership team across multiple locations.
  • Foster a culture of accountability, continuous improvement, and operational excellence .
  • Provide coaching, training, and development opportunities .

    • Strategic & Financial Planning

  • Contribute to budgeting, forecasting, and achieving profitability targets .
  • Develop and track key performance metrics to measure success.

    • Qualifications

  • 5 years of senior leadership experience in distribution, logistics, or supply chain operations.
  • Proven success managing multi-site operations in a fast-paced environment .
  • Proficiency in WMS, TMS, and advanced Excel (pivot tables, macros, etc.) .
  • Strong leadership, problem-solving, and analytical skills .
  • Excellent communication and team-building abilities .

    • Compensation & Benefits

  • 115,000 - $165,000 per year (based on experience)
