As a critical member of our construction materials testing team, the Lab Technician plays a vital role in ensuring the integrity and compliance of concrete, soils, asphalt, and other construction materials. This position requires a blend of technical skill, attention to detail, and the ability to work both independently and as part of a team in a dynamic environment.
Key Responsibilities:
- Conduct comprehensive testing of construction materials, including soils, concrete, and asphalt, adhering to ASTM, AASHTO, FM, Army Corps of Engineers, DOT, and other relevant standards.
- Maintain and calibrate testing equipment to ensure accuracy, following company and manufacturer guidelines.
- Collaborate with project teams to ensure testing requirements align with specifications and compliance standards.
- Accurately record and report test data in a timely and understandable manner.
- Manage daily time and labor reporting in line with company policies.
- Calibrate and maintain testing equipment, ensuring all instruments are within their calibration cycle and functioning optimally.
- Coordinate with project managers to understand testing requirements and ensure that tests are conducted in alignment with project requirements.
- Participate actively in technician meetings and adhere to regular attendance expectations.
- Adapt to flexible schedules, including potential overnight and weekend work, to meet project demands.
- Uphold all safety protocols and procedures to maintain a secure work environment.
Physical Requirements:
- Capable of regularly lifting and maneuvering up to 35 lbs, with occasional lifting in the range of 35-75 lbs, with or without reasonable accommodation.
- Perform repetitive tasks and manual lifting of construction materials, including extensive handling and transportation within the lab premises.
- Work in varied job site conditions, potentially without vehicle access, and in environments exposed to elements such as dirt, dust, sun, heat, and humidity.
Qualifications:
- Experience in construction material testing and ACI certs in aggregate base composite strength.
- Demonstrated reliability and trustworthiness.
- Proven ability to thrive in a fast-paced, collaborative environment while maintaining autonomy in task completion.
- Willingness to engage in continuous learning and skill development.
- Ability to follow strict safety and procedural guidelines.
