Description
The Instructional Design and Curriculum Development Specialist, reporting to the Director of Adoption Learning Partners (ALP), plays a critical role in creating impactful online learning experiences. This role focuses on leveraging instructional design principles, assessment techniques, instructional technologies and collaborative strategies to enhance learner engagement and drive successful outcomes. The Specialist will work closely with Subject Matter Experts (SMEs), program staff, Marketing staff and other stakeholders to design and implement comprehensive curricula for parents and professionals.
Essential Functions
Instructional Design (50%)
- Apply evidence-based instructional design models to create engaging and effective online learning courses in learning management systems.
- Develop learning objectives, assessments and content that align with the needs of our audiences.
- Work with Marketing Team to design interactive and multimedia elements to enhance the learning experience.
- Evaluate the effectiveness of instructional programs through feedback, analytics and metrics, and make recommendations for continuous improvement.
Curriculum Development (40%)
- Collaborate with Subject Matter Experts to develop comprehensive curricula, including webinars.
- Ensure content accuracy, relevance and alignment with regulatory requirements and competencies.
Departmental Support (10%)
- Provide training and consultations to team members on instructional design and curriculum development strategies as related to their education and training projects.
- Support the department in planning and promoting rollout of new curricula, course and webinar offerings.
Requirements
Minimum Requirements
- Bachelor’s degree in instructional design, education, curriculum development or a related field required.
- Three to five years of proven experience in instructional design, curriculum development and/or educational program creation.
- Proficiency with e-learning authoring tools, LMS platforms (TalentLMS experience a plus) and multimedia design software (Adobe Creative Suite, Canva).
- All staff are required to undergo a background check, fingerprinting, and medical exam to meet DCFS (Department of Children and Family Services) requirements.
Location
- We are located at 2049 Ridge Avenue in Evanston, Illinois.
- Regular hours are M-F, 8:30 a.m. – 5:00 p.m. Occasional weekend or evening hours required.
- Hybrid office hours: a minimum of 2 days per week onsite plus potential travel. Subject to change as department needs change.
Salary : $55,000 - $65,000
