What are the responsibilities and job description for the Excavator Operator position at Craftsmen Contractors, LLC?
Craftsmen Contractors is looking to hire an Excavator Operator for the New Orleans area. Will be digging and placing pipe. This is for long term commercial projects.
Pay rate is $19 - $23 depending on experience.
Candidates with good experience requesting a higher pay rate may be considered.
Responsibilities:
- Inspect light and heavy equipment before and after use to ensure they are working properly
- Load and unload cargo and move them to the appropriate storage area
- Follow all safety procedures while operating equipment
- Utilize excavator for drainage tasks, digging pipe and placing pipe.
- Selecting, fitting and removing attachments such as buckets, scoops, shovel blades, rock breaking hammers, winches and blades.
- Operate controls to excavate, break, drill, level, compact, gouge out, move, load and spread earth, rock, rubble, soil and other materials.
- Working from drawings, markers and verbal instructions.
- Perform regular maintenance and minor repairs when necessary
- Report needs for larger repairs to Supervisor or Project Manager
Requirements:
- Requires excellent communication and coordination skills. Individual must be organized, dedicated and prompt.
- 2 years of experience working with excavator.
- Knowledge of proper operation of light/heavy equipment as well as safety standards
- Strong work ethic and physical ability to lift 50 pounds
- Will need all PPE and reliable transportation to get to work.
- Some drainage experience required.
