Metal Fab Technicians

Craftsmen Contractors is hiring Metal Fab Techs for a manufacturing facility in the Minden, La. area. The work schedule is for day shifts from Monday to Friday and also every other Saturday. Weekly pay by direct deposit.

You will have to pass a criminal background check, pre-employment drug screen and has a high school diploma or GED for this position.

Pay is $14 - $20/hr. depending on experience. No per diem is offered. These are temp to permanent positions for the right candidates and for those seeking something long term.

Job Duties:

• Locate and arrange transfer of raw materials to work station areas
• Separate and bundle raw materials in preparation for work application
• Read and interpret metal fab and metal fab work orders
• Manual mode saw cut and shear press standard raw materials to specified lengths, angle, and/or bevel
• Layout and drill specified holes or shapes per prints
• Grind metals and use basic shop hand tools to finish fabrication, deburring and cleanup
• Stage fabricated parts for further processing or transfer to production
• Complete documentation for metal fab work orders
• Help cleanup and also do simple maintenance for shop equipment and work area
• Read and interpret complex metal fab work orders
• Use overhead crane for moving raw materials into and out of work station locations
• Layout and cut holes or other shapes using automatic pattern torch and plasma cutter
• Assist welders with set up of welding operations and also assist material handlers with transport of materials to and from work stations

Job Requirements:

• Be able to stoop, crouch, and kneel to apply paneling and to work overhead.
• Have the ability to use various hand and power tools and to lift up to 50 lbs. when moving materials on the job.
• Ability to ascend, descend and work overhead from a ladder and stand for long periods of time
• Demonstrate basic math skills, mechanical aptitude and read a tape measure.
• Read blueprints.
• Ability to read, comprehend and assimilate information and have good judgment and attention to detail.
• Communicate effectively
• High school diploma or GED required.
• Will need to pass a criminal background check and pre-employment drug screen
• Face to face interview before being hired.

Summary

As a Metal Fab Technician, you will be integral to the manufacturing process, utilizing your expertise in surface mount technology, soldering, and electrical wiring. Reporting to the Production Supervisor, your role involves assembling and fabricating metal components while ensuring adherence to schematics and quality standards. Your mechanical knowledge and proficiency with power tools, including plasma cutting, will be essential in achieving efficient production outcomes. With a focus on precision and safety, you will contribute to the overall success of our operations and help maintain high-quality manufacturing standards.

Job Types: Full-time, Temp-to-hire

Pay: $14.00 - $20.00 per hour

Expected hours: No less than 40 per week
