Overview
We are seeking a detail-oriented and organized Cost Accounting Specialist to join our finance team. The ideal candidate will be responsible for managing financial records, ensuring accuracy in financial reporting, and supporting the overall financial health of the organization. This role requires a strong understanding of accounting principles and proficiency in accounting software.
Responsibilities
- Process vendor invoices, code and enter accounts payable in accounting system.
- Process accounts payable check runs.
- Handle vendor related inquires
- File credit applications with new vendors.
- W9 requests
- Allocations and journal entries
- Assist in Preparing Vendor payables reports
- Data entry that is consistent, accurate, and timely
- Maintain Company files always organized and accessible
- Work collaboratively and promote a team environment
- Processing of payroll (Entering timekeeping, Record and maintain time off (Vacation, Sick, Leave of Absences, Layoffs))
- Processing of payroll taxes (Semi-Monthly Payroll Tax reporting and filing, Monthly Workers Compensation Reporting, Quarterly State and Federal payroll reporting, Annual State and Federal payroll reporting, Annual Workers Compensation Audit)
- Demonstrate reliable attendance, consistent punctuality, and a conscientious attitude always
- Other duties as assigned
Qualifications
- Minimum 2-year accounting experience-including the use of accounting software
- Strong attention to detail and strong math skills
- Self-starter who works effectively alone and as part of a team
- Ability to monitor and double check work for accuracy and quality
- Excellent organizational and follow-up skills
- Ability to work under pressure to meet deadlines
- Ability to maintain confidentiality and use discretion
- Proficiency in Microsoft Outlook, Access, Word, and Excel with ability to create/maintain Excel workbooks
- Excellent communication skills and professional demeanor
- Self-motivated, dependable, and organized, with a willingness to take on increasing responsibilities
- Ability to multitask and adapt to changing priorities
