Brookside Lower School is seeking an Interim, Elementary School Teacher for a one-year position during the 2025-2026 school year.
The Elementary School Teacher is responsible for creating a positive, engaging, and academically stimulating learning environment for students in our Brookside School, Grades 1st-5th. This role involves developing and implementing effective lesson plans, assessing student progress, fostering positive relationships with students and parents, and contributing to the overall school community and mission of the school.
Responsibilities include, but are not limited to:
Curriculum and Instruction:
- Develop and implement engaging and differentiated lesson plans in essential content areas such as literacy, math and social studies.
- Utilize a variety of teaching methods and resources to address diverse learning styles and needs.
- Foster a love of learning and critical thinking skills in students.
- Integrate technology effectively into instruction.
- Create and maintain a positive, safe, supportive, and inclusive learning environment.
Assessment and Evaluation:
- Assess student progress through various methods, including observations, projects, tests, and internal benchmarking.
- Provide timely and constructive feedback to students and parents.
Communication and Collaboration:
- Communicate regularly and effectively with parents regarding student progress and classroom activities.
- Collaborate with colleagues, administrators, and support staff to ensure student success.
- Participate in faculty meetings, professional development, and school events.
Professional Development:
- Actively participate in professional development opportunities to enhance teaching skills and knowledge.
- Stay current with best practices in elementary education.
Requirements:
- Bachelor's degree in Elementary Education or related field (Master's degree preferred).
- At least 3 years of experience teaching in an elementary school setting (private school experience preferred).
- Strong knowledge of elementary curriculum and instructional strategies.
- Excellent communication, interpersonal, and organizational skills.
- Ability to work collaboratively with colleagues and parents.
- Proficiency in using technology for instruction and communication.
- Supervise students during school-based events, recess, and other school activities.
- Requires a valid Michigan driver’s license with satisfactory driving record.
