What are the responsibilities and job description for the Supply Chain Specialist position at Crane Consumables?
Crane Consumables is a local, family-owned paper converter. Our products include bar code, pricing and packaging labels. We are seeking an experienced Supply Chain professional to lead our Supply Chain/Procurement operation. The successful candidate must be a critical thinker who can ensure that our Supply Chain is a strategic advantage to the company. She/He will have strong analytical and negotiating skills and have demonstrated leadership and think proactively to anticipate issues and bring innovative solutions.
Job Responsibilities
- Develops and manages vendor relationships. Ensures that the Company maintains a strong supply of qualified vendors in critical areas.
- Negotiate pricing & rebates, delivery and payment terms.
- Analyzes market trends to identify opportunities for cost savings, operational efficiency, and risk mitigation.
- Monitors vendor performance through metrics, audits, and regular reviews to ensure compliance with quality standards and delivery schedules.
- Addresses and resolves quality issues proactively, including root cause analysis and corrective actions.
- Leverages technology and data analytics to enhance supply chain visibility and decision making.
- Ensures proper inventory levels are maintained to support production and company goals. Uses current orders, forecasting information and vendor lead times to determine needs.
- Maintains accurate inventory counts. Uses inventory data to analyze and report inventory levels, determine trends, and make recommendations to management.
- Manages Purchase Orders to ensure accounting controls are in place for company expenses within Supply Chain area of responsibility.
- Communicates supply chain-related concerns to the management team. Works with employees and management to resolve issues.
- Supervises and leads assigned staff. Assists in hiring, developing, disciplinary actions and terminating staff. Understands and enforces company policies.
- Champions safety and 6S initiatives within the Production area.
- Works with management team to support continuous improvement initiatives.
- Works safely. Abides by all Company and regulatory safety, 5S and operating policies and procedures. Reports injuries and near misses as required.
Qualifications
- 5 years experience in Supply Chain, Purchasing or Business Operations. Experience in the paper industry is plus.
- Bachelor's degree or equivalent business/work experience.
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
- Excellent analytical skills, with the ability to convert analysis into actionable plans.
- Outstanding negotiation skills.
- Demonstrative proficiency with Google Docs and Enterprise Management software. (Labeltraxx a plus)
- Less than 10% travel to customer sites.
