Essential Job Functions
- Liaise with internal project teams and maintaining strong supplier relations
- Evaluating products and suppliers according to key business criteria
- Researching and identifying prospective suppliers
- Prepare proposals, request quotes and negotiate purchase terms and
conditions - Prepare and issue purchase orders and agreements
- Analyze industry and demand trends and support senior management with the development and implementation of sourcing strategies
- Manage vendor relationships and monitor supplier performance to ensure compliance with contractual agreements and quality standards
- Maintain accurate records of procurement transactions, contracts, and vendor information
- Identify opportunities for cost savings and process improvements within the procurement function
- Purchase goods or services that meet the quantity and quality expectations of the organization
- Monitors supplier Key Performance Indicators including on Safety, Quality, Cost - Drive spend compliance into established supply chain strategies
- Develop relationships with key internal Crane business decision makers to support the creation of a world class procurement experience
- Data gathering, analysis and report preparation as required
- Provides specialized purchasing expertise to support functions
- Support the supplier development activities as required
- Daily purchasing and material expediting, as required
- Compliance with the company's business conduct guidelines
Other Skills & Abilities
- Proficient in Microsoft Office; Oracle; Advanced Excel abilities (pivot tables, VLookup, macros, charting/graphing)
- Demonstrated understanding of purchasing policies, procedures, practices, and the value and use of procure-to-pay (P2P) digital platforms
- Skilled at change management
- Exceptional communication and interpersonal skills in order to interact with suppliers, business leaders and all other internal stakeholders
- Excellent communication skills written, verbal and presentation skills; comfortable and credible with both internal stakeholders and external audiences
- Demonstrated negotiation skills including an understanding supplier contract management
- Excellent managerial and organizational skills High level of integrity and dependability with a strong sense of urgency to deliver
Certificates & Licenses
- Institute for Supply Management (ISM) CPSM, CIPS or Six Sigma Black Belt, preferred
Physical Requirements
- Talking, hearing and using hands to operate computers
- Vision abilities required by this job include close vision and the ability to adjust focus
- Job may require extended sitting or standing, use of standard office equipment
- Travel 10-20%
Education & Experience
- Bachelor’s degree or equivalent work experience in Procurement/Purchasing
- Minimum 5 years of sourcing and supplier relations experience
- Logistics, transportation or supply chain management industry experience is preferred
- Previous experience and demonstrated skills in a leadership or a supervisory role
