Crary Huff Law Firm is seeking a Human Resources Specialist for its modern downtown office comprised of 23 attorneys and 15 support professionals. The Human Resources Specialist manages daily HR operations and anticipates and plans for the evolving needs of the Firm. This position works in partnership with the Firm’s Administrative Team and Managing Partners.
Responsibilities:
Financial Support
- Collaborate with the Accounting and Billing Specialist to establish projections for yearly budget related to wages and benefits.
- Manage payroll and 401(k) elections, updates and processing
Human Resource Management
- Collaborate with management to identify staffing needs and develop workforce strategies
- Manage recruitment processes, including job posting, coordinating interviews, and onboarding of new employees
- Oversee compliance (state and federal) for paperwork, files, benefits, policies, posting requirements as well as required training
- Coordinate necessary training for new employees
- Manage diversity and inclusion plan
- Research and develop staff review process
- Oversee performance management processes, including attorney and staff reviews, goal setting, and performance improvement plans as needed
- Provide guidance and support to managers and employees on HR-related matters, including performance management, disciplinary actions, and conflict resolution
- Maintain current succession planning data
- Research and develop efficient Firm processes
- Conduct compensation research and recommendations
- Support employee relations by addressing concerns and facilitating conflict resolution
- Offboarding process management
- Administer employee benefits and renewals
- Responsible for workers’ compensation renewals and reporting
- Setup and training of personnel data systems, with assistance from Accounting and Billing Specialist and Operations Specialist
- Secondary management of legal and administrative support staff
- Maintain Firm Emergency Action Plan and provide necessary communications to Firm
- Test emergency systems in place and keep current
- Assist with OCIs (on campus interviews) for Personnel Partner(s) as requested
- Review and enhance Firm employee handbooks (attorneys and staff)
- Maintain accurate employee records and HR documentation
- Collaborate with Management to research and draft employment contracts
- Coordinate training programs to enhance member skills and performance in partnership with the Operations Specialist
Risk Management
- Firm malpractice insurance renewals and reporting
Firm Relations
- Partner with Accounting and Billing Specialist and Operations Specialist to manage Administrative Assistant
- Responsible for special projects or other duties as assigned
Qualifications:
- Bachelor’s degree from a recognized college or university with major course work in human resources required.
- At least three years of experience as a Human Resources Generalist or similar role within a professional setting is preferred.
Skills:
- Strong understanding of HR policies, procedures, and labor laws.
- Highly organized with an ability to balance and prioritize multiple tasks simultaneously, establish a role as a trusted advisor, and provide innovative solutions in a complex and fast-paced environment while maintaining good interpersonal relations with attorneys and support professionals.
- Ability to work with flexibility, efficiency, enthusiasm, and diplomacy both individually and collaboratively as part of a team effort.
- Strong interpersonal skills, maturity, sound judgment and the ability to communicate and interact effectively.
