What are the responsibilities and job description for the EMS Coordinator position at Crawford County Memorial Hospital?
Essential Duties and Responsibilities:
- Acts as clinical resource for paramedics, EMTs, and other staff involved in the delivery of EMS and for emergency response in the hospital setting.
- Coordinate and maintain staff schedules in coordination with Director of Emergency Services
- Coordinate weekly/monthly data reporting to appropriate agency for CCMH and surrounding volunteer ambulance services
- Assist in development and monitoring of department specific policies, procedures, and protocols
- Prepare and maintain appropriate records, reports, and statistical data
- Coordinate maintenance of all equipment
- Coordinate education of EMS staff based on regulatory and hospital requirements
- Proven knowledge and skill in the delivery of pre-hospital emergency care; ability to operate equipment; ability to express oneself clearly in both oral and written forms; ability to understand and implement instructions; ability to analyze facts and exercise sound judgment to arrive at justified conclusion.
- Participates in customer service follow-up.
- Provides leadership in emergency preparedness activities.
- Responds promptly to all request for patient care as directed.
- Completes documentation and records according to department and state policies.
- Ensures vehicle and equipment are ready for responses at all times.
- Performs assigned duties in the emergency department under the supervision of the Emergency Room Nurse, Physician, and/or Supervisor.
- Acts as a team leader when dealing with emergency responses.
- Takes proper care of the vehicle and equipment.
- Pursues new levels in paramedicine technology and participates in activities, which contribute to professional growth and development.
- Participates in community activities, which improve the public’s understanding of the EMS system.
- Attends and completes all required safety and annual training requirements as assigned.
- Follows the hospital exposure control plans/bloodborne and airborne pathogens.
- Demonstrates respect and regard for the dignity of all patients, families, visitors, and fellow employees to ensure a professional, responsible, and courteous environment.
- Promotes effective working relations and works effectively as part of a department inter- and intra- departmentally to facilitate the department’s ability to meet its goals and objectives.

Professional Requirements:
- Complete annual education requirements.
- Maintain patient confidentiality at all times.

Job Requirements:
- Current Paramedic state certification.
- Minimum of two years full-time experience as a provider of prehospital care.
- Current certification in CPR, American Heart Association Healthcare Provider or American Red Cross CPR for the professional rescuer.
- Current certification in advanced cardiac life support, American Heart Association.
- Current motor vehicle operators state license.
