We are seeking a detail-oriented and highly organized Purchasing & Project Coordinator to join our dynamic team in a growing residential building construction company. This position will play a critical role in ensuring the timely procurement of materials, coordinating project logistics, and supporting the project management team to ensure smooth operations throughout the project lifecycle.
Key Responsibilities
Purchasing Responsibilities: Material Procurement: Source and purchase construction materials, tools, and equipment required for residential building projects, ensuring cost-effectiveness and quality. Supplier Management: Develop and maintain relationships with suppliers and subcontractors, negotiating prices, delivery schedules, and terms. Inventory Management: Monitor inventory levels, track material usage, and reorder supplies as necessary to prevent project delays. Cost Control: Maintain project budgets for purchasing and ensure all materials and supplies are within financial guidelines. Order Management: Prepare purchase orders, track order status, and verify that all items are delivered on time and in good condition. Project Coordination Responsibilities: Project Scheduling: Assist project managers in developing and maintaining project schedules, ensuring timely completion of each phase of construction. Documentation: Ensure accurate record-keeping of contracts, purchase orders, change orders, delivery receipts, and other essential project documents. Logistics Coordination: Organize and track the delivery of materials to the construction site, coordinating with suppliers, vendors, and the construction team to ensure timely arrivals. Communication: Act as the point of contact between the purchasing team, project managers, construction workers, and external suppliers. Problem Solving: Address any issues related to material shortages, delivery delays, or quality concerns, working closely with suppliers and vendors to resolve promptly. Project Tracking: Monitor the progress of construction projects, identify potential delays or issues, and work proactively to ensure that project milestones are met. Skills & Qualifications: Education: Bachelor's degree in Construction Management, Business, Supply Chain Management, or a related field (or equivalent experience). Experience: At least 2-3 years of experience in purchasing, procurement, or project coordination in a construction environment. Knowledge of Construction Materials: Familiarity with the types of materials used in residential building projects and their suppliers. Technical Skills: Proficient in project management software (e.g., Procore, Buildertrend) and Microsoft Office Suite (Excel, Word, Outlook). Strong Communication: Excellent written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to effectively communicate with vendors, suppliers, and internal teams. Organizational Skills: Strong attention to detail, multitasking abilities, and excellent time management skills. Problem-Solving: Ability to think critically and resolve issues quickly, particularly in a fast-paced construction environment. Preferred Qualifications: Experience with budgeting and cost management in construction projects. Knowledge of construction scheduling software (e.g., MS Project, Primavera).
