Position Title: Behavioral Health Lead
Department: Behavioral Health / Mental Health Services
Reports To: Program Manager / Clinical Director
Job Overview:
The Behavioral Health Lead is responsible for overseeing the delivery of behavioral health services, ensuring that clients receive effective, compassionate care. This role involves leading a team of mental health professionals, coordinating treatment plans, providing clinical supervision, and ensuring the highest quality of service in compliance with regulatory standards. The Behavioral Health Lead also plays a key role in advocating for clients, collaborating with interdisciplinary teams, and contributing to program development.
Key Responsibilities:
- Clinical Leadership & Supervision:
- Provide clinical supervision and guidance to a team of behavioral health professionals, including therapists, counselors, and case managers.
- Review and monitor client treatment plans, ensuring they are appropriate, evidence-based, and adjusted as needed based on progress and changes in the client’s condition.
- Conduct individual or group supervision sessions to promote professional growth and ensure adherence to ethical standards and clinical best practices.
- Client Care & Support:
- Provide direct therapeutic services to individuals and groups, addressing a wide range of behavioral health issues, including anxiety, depression, trauma, substance use, and other mental health disorders.
- Develop comprehensive assessment reports, including diagnoses, treatment plans, and progress notes.
- Ensure that clients are receiving the necessary support, resources, and referrals for additional care as required.
- Team Collaboration:
- Work closely with other healthcare professionals, including physicians, social workers, and case managers, to coordinate multidisciplinary care and improve client outcomes.
- Lead team meetings to review case progress, share insights, and ensure cohesive care strategies.
- Program Development & Implementation:
- Assist in the development and implementation of behavioral health programs and services that meet community needs.
- Ensure that programs are culturally sensitive, evidence-based, and align with organizational goals.
- Evaluate program effectiveness and provide recommendations for improvements.
- Quality Assurance & Compliance:
- Ensure compliance with all relevant local, state, and federal regulations, including confidentiality, ethical standards, and licensing requirements.
- Maintain up-to-date knowledge of best practices in behavioral health treatment and implement strategies to enhance service delivery.
- Monitor client outcomes and satisfaction, making adjustments to services as necessary.
- Training & Development:
- Provide ongoing education and training to staff on best practices in behavioral health care, trauma-informed care, crisis intervention, and other relevant topics.
- Stay updated on trends in behavioral health and mental health services, and disseminate this knowledge to the team.
- Crisis Management:
- Be available to provide immediate intervention in crisis situations, ensuring that clients in acute distress are managed appropriately and safely.
- Develop and implement strategies to address crisis situations and de-escalate potentially volatile situations.
Qualifications:
- Education:
- Master’s degree in Psychology, Social Work, Counseling, or a related field (required).
- License in behavioral health (e.g., LCSW, LPC, LMFT, or equivalent) (preferred).
- Experience:
- At least 3-5 years of experience providing direct clinical care in a behavioral health setting.
- Previous leadership or supervisory experience is strongly preferred.
- Skills & Competencies:
- In-depth knowledge of mental health disorders, evidence-based therapeutic techniques, and crisis intervention strategies.
- Strong leadership and team management skills, with the ability to motivate, support, and guide staff.
- Excellent interpersonal, communication, and conflict resolution skills.
- Ability to create a safe, supportive, and inclusive environment for both clients and staff.
- Strong organizational and time-management skills, with the ability to manage multiple priorities effectively.
- Familiarity with relevant behavioral health regulations and ethical standards.
Working Conditions:
- Full-time position, typically based in a clinical or community health setting.
- May require flexibility to work evenings or weekends based on client needs.
- Occasional travel may be required for community outreach or training.
