The Retention Benefit Consultant is responsible for utilizing their knowledge of the insurance industry and market to provide strategic consulting services and managing relationships with key clients.
The lines of coverage include an emphasis on: Medical, Dental, Vision, Spending Accounts, Group Life and AD&D insurance, disability and voluntary benefits
Job Responsibilities
- Manage and retain existing clients and new clients
- Maintain positive client relations with regularly scheduled meetings, including claims utilization reviews, compliance updates, pre-renewal planning, and renewal meetings.
- Establish and continue strong relationships at all levels within client organizations, from executives and key decision-makers to daily operational and technical representatives.
- Introduce new products and services while also ensuring proper resources from within our organization are involved with the customer, where appropriate.
- Proactively seek to understand the needs of the client and identify, develop, and oversee customer needs and service plans
- Lead and plan the renewal process for all lines of coverage.
- Negotiate rate renewals in collaboration with producers and recommend carrier changes or alternate funding arrangements.
- Prepare new business strategies in collaboration with the producer, including the development of proposals and presentations, while considering and tailoring solutions to a client’s individual needs
- Present at employer meetings to inform and educate clients on benefits legislation, regulatory requirements, compliance, current industry trends, and new product information.
- Develop written client communication independently and in partnership with our Creation & Communications team
- Complete Stewardship Reports for each client on an annual basis.
- Complete Claims Utilization Reviews for each client on a quarterly basis.
- Provide technological support for clients on an as-needed basis.
- Conduct annual open enrollment meetings, including presentations to employees.
- Provide Producer support to retain and grow assigned book of business.
Required Skills and Experience
- 10 years of experience in the Employee Benefits industry in an account management or benefit customer service role focused on large group at an agency
- Current Life and Health Insurance License is required
- General computer proficiency with Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook, MS Teams and Adobe Acrobat
- Experience leading or participating in on-site client meetings to develop cross-sale opportunities and to maximize retention.
- Strong written and verbal communication skills with a knack for facilitating and presenting
- A demonstrated history of building and maintaining collaborative working relationships at all levels of an organization
- Organized with the ability to manage multiple time-sensitive tasks simultaneously and adapt to changes quickly based on client needs.
- The ability to independently learn, navigate and solve problems within new technology systems (like HRIS) from the client, sometimes with minimal training.
- Consistently represent Creative Benefits, Inc. in a professional manner
Preferred Skills and Experience
· Expert level navigation skills in MS Excel including formulas, pivot tables and v/x-lookups
· Bachelor’s degree
Supervisory Responsibility
This position is an individual contributor and not responsible for the supervision of other employees.
Work Environment
Creative Benefits, Inc. offers a hybrid schedule of working 2 days remote and 3 days in the office. Our employees enjoy the flexibility that comes with remote work while also valuing the connectivity that is achieved through in-person collaboration. A training/onboarding period may require daily time onsite.
Physical Demands
This job operates in a professional office environment. While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to talk or hear. Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision and ability to adjust focus. This would require the ability to lift files, open filing cabinets and bend or stand on a stool, as necessary. This position routinely uses standard office equipment such as laptop computers and photocopiers.
Position Type/Expected Hours of Work
This is a full-time position. Days and hours of work are Monday through Friday, 8:30 a.m. to 5 p.m. Occasional evening and weekend work may be required as job duties demand.
Travel
Travel to clients occurs occasionally. Travel is primarily local during the business day. On rare occasions, some out-of-area and overnight travel may be expected. Mileage is reimbursed. On occasion, travel between offices for the workday may be expected for expanded learning opportunities, collaboration and in-person meetings.
