The Union Payroll Specialist is responsible for processing and managing payroll for union employees, ensuring compliance with collective bargaining agreements (CBAs), federal and state regulations, and company policies. This role requires strong attention to detail, knowledge of union payroll practices, and experience in operations and maintenance service industries. The specialist will collaborate with HR, finance, and operations teams to ensure accurate and timely payroll processing.

Union Payroll Specialist Responsibilities :
Payroll Processing & Compliance
Process weekly / biweekly payroll for union employees, ensuring compliance with CBAs and legal requirements.Review and validate employee time records, union dues, benefits, and deductions.Ensure accurate calculations of wages, overtime, shift differentials, and prevailing wage rates.Maintain up-to-date knowledge of federal, state, and local payroll regulations, including FLSA, wage and hour laws, and tax compliance.Generate and submit required payroll reports, including certified payroll reports for government contracts if applicable.Union & Benefit Administration
Interpret and apply union agreements related to wages, benefits, pension contributions, and work rules.Process union-related deductions, such as dues, benefit fund contributions, and garnishments.Reconcile payroll data with union benefit providers and submit reports / payments timely.Serve as the primary contact for union representatives on payroll-related matters.Employee Support & System Management
Respond to payroll inquiries from employees, management, and union representatives in a timely and professional manner.Maintain employee payroll records, ensuring accuracy and confidentiality.Utilize payroll software to input, verify, and manage payroll data efficiently.Identify and implement process improvements to enhance payroll efficiency and accuracy.Union Payroll Specialist Qualifications & Skills :
Education : Associate's or Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, Business Administration, or a related field (preferred).Experience : Minimum of 2-3 years of union payroll experience, preferably in an operations, maintenance, or construction-related industry.Technical Skills :Proficiency in payroll processing softwareStrong Excel skills for data analysis and reporting.Familiarity with union contract interpretation and benefits administration.Soft Skills :Strong attention to detail and problem-solving abilities.Excellent communication and interpersonal skills for working with employees, union representatives, and internal teams.Ability to manage multiple tasks and meet tight deadlines.Preferred Qualifications :
Experience with certified payroll reporting and prevailing wage compliance.Knowledge of multi-state payroll processing.Familiarity with payroll tax regulations and reporting.
