Early Childhood Education Teacher

Creative Minds Early Learning Center
Lincoln, NE Full Time
POSTED ON 4/4/2025
AVAILABLE BEFORE 6/4/2025

I am seeking early childhood educators looking for a change in environment and appreciation. I am looking for people who never call me their "boss" but rather their employer; I am a team player. I am looking for passionate individuals who want to make a difference in young children's lives and make a change in what we now call child care.

I own a new Early Learning Center (not a daycare, a preschool, or a babysitting center). We will teach primarily 2.5-5-year-old children but are licensed for school-age children up to twelve years of age for summers and potential evening and weekend drop-off times for special events, holidays, or clubs.

This nontraditional play-based center focuses on teaching through play. With your help, I strive to build a center where young children are not placed in a classroom environment before they are ready. I believe young children (and their teachers) should not be trapped in a classroom all day. ~ "Children don't learn much through their bottoms. Most adults enjoy remaining stationary as our bodies get weary. Many classrooms are set up to keep us sitting and thus supposedly attentive. In contrast, young children actually expend much more energy trying to remain stationary. Their muscles (and thus their brains) demand that they move their bodies." -Bev Bos.

The children will only be in their classrooms during specific times and possible teacher-led curricular activities at the teacher's discretion. The newly renovated center is in south Lincoln. This center has all the primary learning centers, including a library, an extensive visual and creative arts area, a sensory area, and a cooking area for small and simple cooking lessons. All these centers are outside the classroom, just like primary school.

The mathematics, manipulatives, puzzles, games, dramatic and creative play, and block area all have large spaces and multiple tables to help our little ones grow. We also have two technology beams where the children can use critical thinking, problem-solving, and teamwork and express their gross motor skills when the weather does not cooperate. We have a large variety of materials at varied academic levels. We also have a newly renovated outdoor area and over 6000 square feet of indoor space for gross motor play and multiple ride-in cars, bikes, and trikes. I want little ones to learn about the world around them in their own way and in their own time; let them be little. We will help children develop their language and literacy skills and teach them about nature, science, social studies, music and movement, and technology in a variety of ways. We will not have children on tablets or electronic devices, and there will be no television for the children.

We have significant space for all learning centers to ensure children thrive in every curriculum area and developmental domain while gaining independence and learning various playstyles. I am seeking trained and qualified teachers to ensure we focus on (DAP) Developmentally Appropriate Practices, embedded learning opportunities, teachable moments, and real-life experiences.

"The child is the curriculum." -Bev Bos.

I do not have a standard online or paper application. I would like to hear why you are interested in working in this nontraditional early learning environment, what you feel you can provide for the children, and how you see yourself contributing to this unique team and center. I look forward to hearing from you.
