What are the responsibilities and job description for the CSS Student Observer position at Creative Speech Solutions?
CSS provides high school and college students with a clinical observation experience shadowing SLP's and OT's. This observation experience is aimed at helping students fulfill service/observation hours, as well as provide exposure to these disciplines for those students who are deciding upon a field of study. We believe that observations can provide an understanding of the skill set required for clinical practice, including interpersonal communication, writing skills, professional conduct, behavior management, and evidence-based practice aspects of speech-language pathology or occupational therapy.
PLEASE NOTE - At this time, we are able to accept student observation requests but acceptances will be based on a case by case basis. Observation times available are Monday through Thursday from 3pm - 7pm ONLY. There is a limit on the # of students we can allow each day and we provide a maximum of up to 10 observation hours per student (with the exception of graduate students).
Not all observations will be in person. If a patient is not able to be observed in person for any reason, you will be asked to view the session via a monitor from another room.
Our therapists will be contacted by our front office to coordinate a student's request to determine if the request can be accommodated. If we are able, you will receive an email connecting you with a therapist(s).
**The possibility of an observation is contingent on approval from patients and availability of our therapists. Not all observation requests are guaranteed**
If the above observation schedule or observations via monitor are not possible for you. we wish you luck in your search and apologize that we cannot accommodate you at this time.
