The Job at a Glance
The Assistant Branch Manager (ABM) is responsible for the overall management of the credit union branch. This individual will be an internal and external champion for the credit union's sales and service culture. They will assist in leading the enhancement of service delivery and the operational process s as related to branch operations. The ABM will assist in managing organizational goals and service expectations for both retail and business banking needs and ensure their branch is compliant with all regulations and policies.
A Typical Day
- Focus on team and self-development, leadership, and management through training and ongoing communications.
- Conduct regular touchbases and annual performance evaluations. Consistently provide feedback, recommend promotions for high-performing staff, and take corrective action as needed.
- Conduct interviews, assess candidates and make hiring decisions to meet staffing level requirements ensuring exceptional member service levels are maintained.
- Develop and maintain banking relationships with potential and existing members.
- Assist in the management of the overall branch member experience focusing on new member growth and retention.
- Monitor staffing levels, scheduling and branch workflow to ensure coverage to exceed member expectations and accomplish operational duties.
- Generate new business within branch market for deposit accounts, loans, and cash management.
- Develop and implement strategies to drive business growth and achieve branch targets.
- Responsible for branch and staff performance, monitor and analyze branch metrics to determine branch performance toward strategic initiatives.
- Handle complex situations with confidence, knowledge and creativity.
- Mentor and train team members on how to build relationships with members, educating them about products and services they could benefit from.
- Remains cognizant of and adheres to Credit Union 1 policies and procedures, industry, and banking norms.
- Promote positive working relationships while working with other departments to provide service that exceed member expectations and consistency in processes for the membership and staff.
- Assist manager with community engagement efforts as needed.
- Perform other duties and assist other employees, as assigned.
