Role: Responsible for the development of business relationships with prospective and existing members through assigned select employer groups (SEGs), with a primary emphasis on rural markets. Represent the credit union at professional and community events.
Essential Functions & Responsibilities:
- Drive business development within assigned Select Employer Groups (SEGs), focusing on membership expansion, loan and deposit growth, and achieving the credit union’s annual growth targets, with a primary emphasis on rural markets. Collaborate with Senior Business Development Officer to actively cultivate relationships, including sourcing new membership and expanding existing relationships through back-to-school events, promotions, open enrollments, staff meetings, employee benefit fairs, new employee orientation programs, community involvement and in-person sales calls. Promote Core account, Guaranteed Educator Loans (GEL), TGIF grants, Give Back Visa card, and student scholarship programs. Promote financial literacy to SEGs primarily through It’s A Money Thing presentations.
- Assist with TGIF check presentations, school blasts, Wind Surge Educator nights, financial literacy presentations; serve on TGIF committee as business development representative; travel to rural market partners.
*Utilize Monday.com and other tracking systems to measure and report business development efforts, sales, and events. This includes management of and assigning leads/referrals to appropriate sales staff.*Develops and implements an annual Business Development plan including strategies, goals, and budget.
- Maintain excellent knowledge of products and services offered by the credit union and its competitors. Maintain knowledge of operational procedures connected with internal sales, basic member service and employer groups. Responsible for resolving problems with SEG members.
- Mentor branch staff in Business Development opportunities and work with them to meet individual branch goals as well as SEG growth goals.
- Perform other duties as assigned by supervisor. Employees shall be trained annually, demonstrate an understanding of and follow the requirements of the BSA/AML Compliance Program as it specifically relates to their job.
Knowledge and Skills:
- Experience: Three years to five years of similar or related experience.
- Education: (1) A bachelor's degree in Marketing, Business, Finance, or Communications, or (2) achievement of formal certifications recognized in the industry as equivalent to a bachelor's degree (e.g., information technology certifications in lieu of a degree).
- Interpersonal Skills: A significant level of trust and diplomacy is required, in addition to normal courtesy and tact. Work involves extensive personal contact with others and is usually of a personal or sensitive nature. Work may involve motivating, influencing or training others. Outside contacts become important and fostering sound relationships with other entities (companies and/or individuals) becomes necessary and often requires the ability to influence and/or sell ideas or services to others.
- Other Skills: Must have good communication skills, including written, verbal, listening, and public speaking to audiences from 1 - 300 . Must be proficient at communicating with all levels of staff, both inside and outside of the credit union. Must have sales skills, organization skills; be a team worker and self motivated. Must be proficient at use and application of personal computer programs.
- Work Environment: Monday - Friday, generally 8:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m. Occasional weekend or evening events.
Regular travel to CUA rural branches / events. Office position; works indoors year-round; may be exposed to indoor temperature adjustments; heating and cooling vents distribute regulated air.
