Position Summary
Enhances the quality of life for our members / team members by meeting or exceeding their service expectations, supporting the mission of the Credit Union, and demonstrating a high degree of professionalism. Responsible for posting entries, analyzing, and reconciling detailed general ledger accounts as assigned. Researches and resolves any errors, outages, or discrepancies and communicates with other staff on Accounting related issues. Completes all accounting functions in accordance with generally accepted accounting principles and credit union policies and procedures.
Essential Functions & Additional Responsibilities
80% - Accounting Operations - Maintains a high level of knowledge and understanding of accounting operations. Supports the accounting operations tasks including, but not limited to general ledgers, subledger accounts, fixed assets, prepaid expenses, branch and ATM cash orders, accounts payable, accounts receivables, internal accounts, operational settlements, accruals, deferrals, tenant lease payments, investments, and cash position. Identify errors or discrepancies promptly and resolved or address with management. Responsible for keeping current on regulatory changes and follows generally accepted accounting principles. Ensure necessary policies and procedures are up to date. Ensure department processes are in compliance with applicable operating guidelines and government regulations.
15% - Managerial Support – Routinely assists the management team to perform research, interpret accounting policies and procedures, completes special projects, miscellaneous assignments, prepares reports, suggests, and implements process improvements by communicating concerns and ideas for maximizing efficiency in accounting related processes, and assists in the month end closing procedure by providing timely and accurate reporting of entries.
5% - Other - Performs other duties as assigned.
Education :
Accounting Bachelor’s degree obtained through a formal 4-year program at an accredited educational facility preferred or equivalent experience.
Experience :
A minimum of 1-3 years of accounting experience in a financial institution required. General understanding of Accounts receivable, accounts payable and general accepted accounting principles.
