Position Overview
The Home Care Aide plays a crucial role in fostering independence and enhancing the quality of life for individuals, particularly autistic children, who require care support services. This position is ideal for compassionate individuals with basic knowledge of American Sign Language (ASL) dedicated to making a difference through care, guidance, and skill-building and are committed to empowering vulnerable populations to achieve greater self-reliance and personal growth.
Key Responsibilities
1. Personal Care Assistance: Assist with activities of daily living (ADLs), including bathing, grooming, dressing, toileting, and mobility, tailored to the individual's needs and abilities.
2. Monitoring and Documentation: Observe and document physical and emotional well-being, behaviors, and changes in condition. Maintain detailed and accurate records as required.
3. Safety and Supervision: Promote a safe environment by identifying hazards, addressing safety concerns, and ensuring the security of the individuals under your care.
4. Emotional Support: Provide companionship and emotional support through active listening, empathy, and meaningful engagement to foster social and emotional well-being.
5. Transportation Support: Accompany children to appointments, recreational activities, or community outings, ensuring safe transportation and punctuality.
6. Household Maintenance (only special request): Perform light housekeeping tasks, including cleaning, laundry, and organizing, to maintain a comfortable living environment.
7. Communication and Collaboration: Work effectively with individuals, families, and interdisciplinary team members to ensure coordinated care and address concerns or changes in care plans.
8. Regulatory Compliance: Adhere to all state and federal regulations and agency policies while delivering excellent care support services.
Requirements
Experience:
1. 100 hrs of experience working with kids with disability, preferably Autism (experience can include shadowing, volunteering, or supporting family members).
2. At least one year of experience working as a care support specialist.
Education and Certification:
1. High school diploma or equivalent required.
2. CPR and First Aid certification required.
Skills and Qualities:
