What are the responsibilities and job description for the Digital Imaging Tech position at Creekside Digital?
Privately owned business in Glen Arm, MD performing digital imaging work for cultural heritage institutions is in search of qualified applicants. We are seeking to hire an individual to perform digital imaging work as well as to transport our customer’s cultural heritage materials in the company’s Sprinter van. The digital imaging duties and material transport duties are about 75% digital imaging, 25% transporting materials. This is a full-time, 40 hours/week position (M - F, 8:30 AM to 4:30 PM, paid lunch), in our Glen Arm, MD facility.
Applicants must be aware that this can be a physically demanding position, and also should have experience or interest in history, cultural heritage, or photography. A CDL license is not necessary but a clean driving record is a must. Candidates with negative driving records should not apply. Candidates unable to lift boxes weighing up to 50 lbs should not apply.
RESPONSIBILITIES
Job responsibilities are as follows:
- Digitization of books, newspapers, photographs and microfilm using production digitization equipment.
- Carefully name / number captured files during digitization based on project specifications.
- Perform image Quality Assurance and post-processing using a variety of software tools.
- Perform data entry to accurately capture required data fields from scanned documents.
- Maintaining inventory spreadsheets.
- Checking in/unpacking incoming projects and preparing / packing completed projects for shipment
- Perform pickups and deliveries of customer materials and photographic equipment to and from customer locations throughout the Mid-Atlantic region and occasionally beyond via the company’s van.
- Assist with load in/out and set-up/tear-down of photographic equipment as required.
QUALIFICATIONS
To be considered for this position, you must have:
- Two years of previous relevant experience, either through recent education or via recent work experience.
- An eye for detail and the ability to work on multiple projects simultaneously in a deadline-driven team environment
- Dependable, positive, and detail-oriented with the ability to multi-task.
- CDL license is not necessary but a clean driving record is required
- Must be able to pass a criminal background.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
- Experience with Microsoft Office, Adobe Photoshop, and other standard software tools
- The ability to type at a minimum of 50 words per minute.
- Interest in photography, graphic design, library science, and history a plus
