Job Summary: This is a full-time, regular position, with frequent daily and overnight travel, supporting the Project Manager in the day-to-day management of an assigned project location, supervising internal and external laborers and sub-contractors, ensuring the project is advancing according to schedule, within budget and within the project scope.
Requirements
Essential Duties:
- Abide by all Company and government policies, safety rules, regulations and laws, and ensure employees abide by the same. Responsible for the daily management of the safety program.
- Regularly demonstrate leadership abilities by traveling to and supervising work teams in the execution of daily and weekly project goals, directing the work of others, training and developing staff to perform duties, monitoring and correcting performance in order to foster a good working environment centered on respect for all, and where a “let’s get it done” mindset is contagious.
- Routinely and accurately read construction plans, geotechnical reports, measurements, permits, surveys, and other documents for comprehension and staff dissemination to ensure efficient take-off and project advancement.
- Routinely provide updates to, and actively manage the construction schedule, change orders and claims, cost control for labor and materials, and preparing quality and timely project reports as to the same.
- Occasionally create customer proposals, follow up with clients, offer quality and efficient solutions, and resolve internal or external conflict to ensure a professional working environment.
- Routinely inspect project site to ensure regulatory compliance requirements, such as, but not limited to, posted permits and licenses, safety notices and required safety postings, federal workplace requirement notices and posters, and workers compensation notices.
- Occasionally operate heavy equipment, to include, but not limited to, excavators, mini loaders, and 90-lbs jackhammers; performing and auditing the daily pre and post equipment checks, to ensure all equipment is accounted for and in good working order at the start and end of work daily.
Job Requirements:
- Demonstrable ability or experience supervising projects or assignments under short deadlines, and with a strong attention to detail and a history of successful customer service.
- Must speak, read, and write in English to ensure site and crew safety, with strong verbal and written communication skills, including interpersonal communication and team development.
- May be required to use a two-way radio or other mobile communication device.
- Intermediate proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite, including Word, Excel, and Outlook; all reporting requirements are computerized.
- Must have and maintain a valid driver’s license in the employee’s state of residence.
- Must be able to operate heavy machinery and manipulate two foot and two hand controls simultaneously.
- Must be able to lift and carry 55lbs unassisted.
Physical Requirements:
- 90% of the time, incumbents will regularly travel to and actively manage construction sites, exposed to unlevel ground, overhead dangers, heavy machinery, loud noise, dust and other airborne particles or vapors, and may be exposed to rapidly changing environmental conditions such as extreme temperatures and elements, while wearing safety equipment including, but not limited to, safety footwear, eyewear, headwear, and ear protection.
- Incumbents must be able to hear differences in high and low-pitched sounds in order to identify alarms, failing machinery, or emergency directions; may have to respond to and provide first response to medical or other safety emergencies.
- 10% of the time, incumbents may sit for long periods of time in an environmentally controlled environment, typing on a keyboard, looking at a monitor, writing manual reports, reading fine print, talking with customers in person or over a device, and performing repetitive motions. Incumbents may occasionally interact with angry or hostile customers or manage other stressful situations.
