We are seeking an experienced Commercial Construction Superintendent for a large commercial project in Naples, Florida. Start date for this position would be early April, with the project slated to break ground mid-to end of April.

Position Overview:

The Commercial Construction Superintendent will be responsible for overseeing day-to-day operations on the job sites. This includes managing the work of subcontractors and laborers, ensuring safety compliance, coordinating schedules, and ensuring the project stays on track in terms of budget, timeline, and quality standards. The Superintendent will act as the primary on-site point of contact.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Project Oversight: Supervise and manage all aspects of the construction project on-site, ensuring that work is being completed according to plans, specifications, and deadlines.
  • Safety Management: Enforce safety policies and ensure that all workers adhere to site-specific safety requirements, OSHA regulations, and other relevant safety standards.
  • Quality Control: Inspect work in progress to ensure the quality of workmanship and compliance with design specifications, codes, and regulations.
  • Schedule Coordination: Develop, manage, and update the project schedule to ensure tasks are completed on time. Address delays and obstacles as they arise and ensure corrective actions are taken.
  • Budget and Cost Control: Monitor job site expenses and keep an eye on material usage to prevent waste and overages.
  • Team Management: Lead and supervise on-site subcontractors. Delegate tasks, set expectations, and provide guidance to ensure efficient project delivery.
  • Client Communication: Serve as the main point of contact for subcontractors and suppliers, ensuring clear communication regarding project updates, schedule changes, and any issues that arise on-site.
  • Problem Solving: Address and resolve any issues that arise during the construction process, from labor disputes to unexpected site conditions.
  • Documentation and Reporting: Maintain accurate records of daily activities, including work progress, incidents, and materials used. Prepare reports for the project manager and ensure proper documentation is completed for inspections, permits, and other legal requirements.
  • Collaboration: Work closely with architects, engineers, and project managers to ensure the smooth execution of the project and resolve any technical challenges.

Qualifications:

  • Experience: Minimum 5 years of experience as a Superintendent in commercial construction, with a proven track record of successful project delivery. Experience managing mid-to-large-scale commercial projects is preferred.
  • Education: A degree in Construction Management, Civil Engineering, or a related field is preferred, but not required if accompanied by significant hands-on experience.
  • Skills:
  • Strong knowledge of construction processes, procedures, and best practices.
  • Ability to read and interpret blueprints, schematics, and construction documents.
  • Proficient in project management software and scheduling tools.
  • Excellent organizational, time-management, and problem-solving skills.
  • Strong leadership and communication skills.
  • In-depth understanding of safety regulations and compliance standards.
  • Certifications: OSHA 30-Hour Construction Safety Certification required (OSHA 10 may be acceptable with intent to complete 30-hour certification). First Aid/CPR certification is a plus, but not required.
  • Physical Demands: Must be able to lift and carry up to 50 lbs, walk and stand for extended periods, and work in various weather conditions.
