Creighton University in Omaha, NE is seeking to hire an Associate Director for the Department of Student Accessibility Services (SAS).
Creighton University provides reasonable accommodations to qualified students with documented disabilities through Student Accessibility Services (SAS). In this effort, the Associate Director serves a critical role in the implementation meet the needs of students with disabilities within the framework of federal regulations and current learning theories. This position is also responsible for providing leadership in faculty training, clinical accommodations, student programming, and family support.
Responsibilities
- Review and determine student eligibility based on documentation and interactive process. Conduct intakes (interactive interviews) and evaluation of academic, clinical, housing, physical, and student employee accommodation requests.
- Collaborate, communicate, educate, and consult with faculty and staff on implementation of accommodation plans.
- Provide leadership and coordination on clinical accommodations granted by SAS. This includes meeting with professional school supervisors of clinical sites and evaluating reasonableness of needed accommodations.
- Serve as a resource and advocate for students with disabilities while promoting independence, responsibility, and self-advocacy.
- Assist in oversight and supervision of Student Accessibility Services Professional Staff.
- Supervise Student Accessibility Services Graduate Assistants.
Qualifications
- Master's Degree in counseling, psychology, education, social work or related field.
- 5 years of experience working with a diverse population in a secondary, postsecondary, or professional level and advising students.
- Experience working in a disability/accessibility accommodations environment at a post-secondary or secondary level preferred.
- Knowledge of ADA laws, policies, and regulations, and how they impact higher education is helpful.
