What are the responsibilities and job description for the Press Operator - 2nd Shift position at Crescent Manufacturing Company?
Training for this position will take place on day shift. Once training is complete, employee will be transferred to afternoons.
Purpose:
To set up and operate presses with the knowledge needed to consistently produce a quality product.
Knowledge, Skills and Duties:
1. Read and understand prints for blade dimensions.
2. Use and understand micrometers, dial calipers, gauges, comparator, various hand tools, microscopes, and measure scopes in Quality Assurance Lab.
3. Be physically able to do the job, as lifting is required. May ask for assistance if needed.
4. Do complete die set-ups and set-ins on all presses:
A. Troubleshoot die problems.
B. Set-up all press feeds.
C. Look up and understand all gear progressions.
D. Perform quality checks on all blades.
E. Load and unload coils.
F. Set-up and make adjustments to various payout feed and take-up wheels.
G. Mix cutting oils.
H. General maintenance of presses and dies.
Daily Responsibilities:
1. Perform quality checks on blades.
2. Maintain a quality blade.
3. Daily maintenance on presses and dies.
4. Communicate with other operators.
5. Upkeep of hand tools.
6. Maintain two presses.
7. Clean up work area.
8. Weigh and count scrap and record on data sheet.
9. Inform Department Manager of the need for machine maintenance, supplies, materials or anything else that could affect the smooth flow of production.
10. Effectively communicate the problems experienced and status of the production processes to the Department Managers and coworkers via the computer, verbally and any other tools utilized.
11. Follow Company Policies and Shop Rules.
12. Complete documented quality checks.
13. Complete required paperwork, as well as filling out data sheet properly.
14. Must be committed to Crescent’s Mission/Vision Statement and Quality Policy.
15. Must have good communication skills, written and verbal.
16. Must present a professional attitude.
Job Type: Full-time
Pay: From $17.43 per hour
Expected hours: No less than 40 per week
