Coordinator I

POSITION SUMMARY

Conduct surveys and interviews with NHBS and participants. Recruit for NHBS programs. Assist with key priority population NHBS projects. Conduct venue-based outreach and interviewing. Assist program staff in coordinating events that serve priority populations. Assist with educational outreach. Assist with communication with potential clients and program participants via phone, in person, and online. Work with linkage and other programs to ensure clients and participants access all needed services. Ensure compliance with funder requirements and attainment of program deliverables. This position is active only during the primary data collection period for NHBS which is June-November.

  • Maintain high level of professionalism and ensure confidentiality.
  • Treat participants, clients, staff, volunteers, board members, etc., with dignity and respect.

COMPLIANCE & QUALITY ASSURANCE STANDARDS

  • Requires cooperation with the Agency's Quality Assurance and Improvement Program. Includes actively participating in all required trainings, and in creating a culture of quality improvement. Cooperation with the quality program will be considered for performance reviews.
  • Requires cooperation with the Agency's Compliance Practices. Includes immediately reporting issues, actively participating in required trainings, following HIPAA regulations, and assisting in creating a culture of compliance. Also includes compliance with written standards and all applicable federal and state laws. Cooperation with compliance will be considered for performance evaluations.
  • Not currently listed as excluded or sanctioned by the Department of Health and Human Services, Office of Inspector General (OIG), the General Services Administration (GSA), or excluded from participation in any federal program. Agrees to promptly notify supervisor in the event of any such debarment, exclusion, conviction, threat or indictment occurring during the term of employment.
  • Failure to comply with the Agency's Compliance Practices, which include failure to report conduct or events that potentially violates any laws or the Agency's written compliance standards will be met by disciplinary action, up to and including possible termination.
  • Must adhere to all practices specified in the Employee Handbook and Agency Operating Procedures.

  • Flexible and non-judgmental ability to work and relate to all persons, especially key populations including Black Men who have Sex with Men (MSM) Latino MSM, MSM, Transgender Individuals, Injection Drug Users, and High-Risk Heterosexuals with a positive and caring attitude.
  • Excellent time management skills
  • Excellent problem-solving skills and ability to exercise judgment and discretion.
  • Possess etiquette skills to provide customer service for all clients and participants.
  • Able to manage time effectively, report to shifts on time, and complete full work shifts.
  • Ability to return communication in a timely manner including same day
  • Willingness to provide services at community locations
  • Ability to complete tasks in a timely manner
  • Necessary technical skills to use electronic health record, incident reporting system, email, and other information systems.
  • Necessary technical skills to use and / or proficiency with computer and windows-based business software applications including Microsoft Office Suite.
  • KEY DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Assist with street outreach, community outreach, testing, and educational events, in community venues and social events in urban locations.
  • Assist with sexual health community education
  • Assist program staff in coordinating, setting up, and breaking down events that serve priority populations.
  • Recruit for NHBS programs
  • Assist with communication with potential clients and program participants via phone, in person, and online
  • Work with linkage and other programs to ensure clients and participants access all needed services.
  • Ensure compliance with funder requirements and attainment of program deliverables
  • Work with other program areas and staff to meet program area needs and to communicate with other staff on program requirements.

  • POSITION REQUIREMENTS

  • High School degree / GED / HiSet required. Comparable experience considered.
  • 1 year experience in public health or relevant work such as customer service, social services, non-profit, research, community engagement preferred
  • Experience with key populations such as MSM, PWID, the transgender community, and other populations facing barriers to care preferred
  • Bilingual Spanish preferred
  • ESSENTIAL PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS

  • Ability to work a flexible schedule and non-traditional work hours.
  • Be able to stand for extended periods of time (3-4 hours) for outreach and community events.
  • The ability to lift and carry 25-pound boxes for NHBS outreach and community events.
  • Ability to climb stairs in community venues in locations with limited or no ADA compliance
