Job Description
The Inventory Control Specialist reports to the Senior Inventory Control Manager; supports inventory functions and physical counting of inventory to maintain accuracy of perpetual inventory; supports the ordering of specified items as needed to maintain proper inventory levels; orchestrates month end inventory procedures to correspond with company SOPs.
Job Responsibilities
• Assists the Inventory Control Manager (ICM) in receiving, warehousing, and distribution operations by overseeing, coordinating, and supporting programs, operational, and personnel policies and procedures per established business process compliance SOPs.
• Supports warehouse operations and contents by establishing and monitoring security procedures, ensuring proper food safety protocols are being followed, and all required logs are maintained.
• Works with ICM and Warehouse Managers on rotating inventory (FIFO) and inventory stocking issues.
• Supports the control of inventory levels by conducting regular physical Reference Counts; comparing with WIMS (theoretical); investigates all variances and identifies appropriate actions that will minimize/eliminate these variances.
• Supports the standard of achieving and maintaining WIMS QOH = PHYSICAL QOH.
• Supports and collaborates with ICM to identify the need for cycle counts to correct physical vs. theoretical inventory variances.
• Verify PO/MA accuracy by performing accuracy checks during receipt process, as well as matching invoice and PO to ensure proper pricing, quantity, and product specification.
• Works closely with WIMS and QC Clerks, as well as warehouse personnel, verifying that all daily movement and transactions are performed per policies and procedures.
• Ensures a consistent and comprehensive QC verification process is in place for all transfer-out and transfer-in transactions.
• Works closely with Receivers to ensure effective receiving and MA process compliance is executed consistently; communicates rejected items; determines best course of action with ICM.
• Supports the coordination of all deliveries and works closely with ICM and centralized purchasing team to communicate shortages from vendors, proper days on hand quantities and any "smart" purchasing needs.
• Monitors and audits (as directed) all transactions that may impact inventory levels, and provides the necessary feedback to management that will help improve performance.
• Supports the coordination during end of month inventory processes with the warehouse team to ensure accurate counts on count sheets and data in WIMS.
• Supports efforts to maintain shrink at or below company standards.
• Supports the orchestration of Warehouse2Warehouse Transfers when needed, and ensures execution per approved process and protocols.
• Performs other duties as assigned by Inventory Control Manager, Sr. Inventory Control Manager, Sr. Operations Manager, AGM and GM.
Qualifications
• Bachelor's degree in Business, Finance, Accounting or related field
• Three or more years of experience managing, developing and coaching a team of professionals
• Strong interpersonal and written/oral communication skills
• Ability to relate well and cooperate with others to effectively coordinate activities and accomplish goals
• Strong computer skills
• Proven ability and success with leading and developing high performing teams
• Ability to communicate and work with cross-functional teams and all levels in the organization (internal and external)
• Ability to handle multiple priorities from diverse levels of management
• Results-oriented focus to ensure delivery of operational reports and services in an accurate, complete, and timely fashion
• High level of self-initiative and the ability to prioritize, work independently and manage time effectively
• Strong presentation skills
• Warehousing experience a plus
• Operations leadership experience a plus
