Job Summary
Yard Jockey Driver. Loading and moving materials within the yard for a mulch and soil manufacturer. High activity, will require availability to work overtime hours as needed. Fast –paced operation.
Job Responsibilities
- Oversee and organize product deliveries to ensure they are put in the correct placement in the landscape/hardscape yard
- Operate a skid loader and bobcat
- Load and unload product from customer trucks
- Validate packing slips, ship tickets, and other delivery documentation by auditing, recording and interpreting shipping documentation, weights & measures, labels and production schedules
- Assist in greenhouse operations when not in yard
- Maintain and Inspect forklift and bobcats: fueling & preventive maintenance duties (lubrication, cleaning, battery change)
- Interact with customers and assist with their landscape and greenhouse needs
- Ensure the safety of customers and employees through compliance with Environmental and Health and Safety regulations and maintaining an attitude that all incidents are preventable
- Ensure landscape yard is open and safe for customers and all materials are neatly in their designated areas
Job Requirements
- Must be able to work in a fast-paced, covered and uncovered greenhouse facility
- Experience operating forklift and driving delivery trucks
- High school diploma or GED, or equivalent combination of education, training and experience
- Skills to interface with customers on orders, sales, delivery details, transportation, dispatch, & trailer hitch operations
- Ability to successfully pass internal Forklift Certification Training and demonstrate safety procedures
- Able to perform job tasks in sometimes dusty, hot and/or cold working conditions
- Must be willing and able to assist in greenhouse operations when not on deliveries or loading/unloading materials
- Ability to stand for long periods of time
- Must be able to lift, push, pull or carry objects weighing up to 50 pounds
- Ability to stoop, kneel, crouch, crawl, climb, balance
- Ability to work in outdoor environment, including exposure to heat, cold, humidity & allergens
- Must be able to work with hand/power tools
- Hearing and visual acuity including close, distance, color, peripheral vision, depth perception, and the ability to adjust focus
- Regularly works outdoors and in a greenhouse in both hot and cold conditions
- Frequently exposed to wet and/or humid conditions
- Occasionally exposed to risk of fumes, airborne particles, toxic or caustic chemicals (appropriate PPE will be provided)
