CRI-Help is a substance use disorder treatment center with several locations across Los Angeles County. The Outpatient SUD Counselor / Case Worker assists clients in discovering a way of life that can be lived without the use of chemicals, supports clients through the recovery process, and assists clients in the exploration of their lifestyle- emphasizing patterns of behavior.

Basic Functions
- Assist clients in discovering a way of life that can be lived without the use of chemicals, support clients through the recovery process, and assist clients in the exploration of their lifestyle- emphasizing patterns of behavior.
Responsibilities
- Keep a schedule of regular counseling appointments with clients and be available for non-scheduled counseling or crisis counseling when needed.
- Develop treatment plans, based on the initial ASAM assessment conducted at intake, including goals and objectives.
- Write progress notes and other relevant clinical documentation, as clinically necessary and at least once weekly, detailing clients’ progress, or lack thereof, towards completing his or her treatment plan goals.
- Facilitate groups sessions and educational classes as assigned by Program Manager and document accordingly in each client’s file within 48 hours.
- When necessary, update ASAM assessments for clients.
- Attend weekly Case Conferences to discuss clients’ progress in relation to their treatment plans. Identify problems or achievements through staff discussion.
- Conduct and document case management between clients and other service agencies involved in clients’ treatment, including but not limited to: Probation, Parole, DCFS, DMH, DPSS, DOR, along with referring case managers and insurance providers.
- Attend, and actively participate in, monthly in-service training sessions.
- Provide each client with an individualized Continuing Care Plan.
- Complete all necessary documentation within contractually established timeframes: this includes P.O. reports, progress notes, discharge summaries, aftercare plans, etc.
- Provide family support and education through conjoint sessions as well as family groups.
- Communicate and coordinate effectively with the treatment team regrading client treatment issues.
- Maintain a minimum of 65% DMC billing productivity per month.
- Perform other duties as assigned by the Program Manager.
Skills / Knowledge
- Must be able to accurately document clients’ individual sessions and group participation.
- Must be able to communicate effectively both orally and in writing.
- Must have knowledge and ability to use counseling techniques to educate, elicit feelings, facilitate self-understanding and motivate the client.
- Must be skilled in using Evidence Based Practices, including CBT and MI.
- Must have the ability to act as Case Manager, coordinating a continuum of treatment and / or services for clients.
- Due to the program philosophy, all clinical staff must have a good understanding of the Narcotics Anonymous and / or Alcoholic Anonymous programs (the Twelve Steps).
- Must be Bilingual (English / Spanish)
Education / Training
- Position requires individual be registered and/or certified with one of the state-approved addiction counselor certification entities (e.g. CADTP, CAADE, or CCAPP) or Master’s level BBS registered individuals.
Working Conditions
- Frequently remain in stationary positions, standing and / or sitting for prolonged periods.
- Occasionally crouching below the waist and / or reaching above the shoulders.
- Occasionally lifting and / or moving objects up to 20 lbs.
Special Conditions
- Must be willing to undergo random drug screenings.
